Two questions really.

One, when they say
“The formula we’re using to convert ferocity into critical damage will reduce the current maximum obtainable values. At level 80, it will take 15 points of ferocity to gain 1% bonus critical damage, which means that there will about a 10% decrease in overall damage for a full “berserker” build.”

Does this mean… we’ll be doing 10% less CRITICAL damage, or 10% less damage, overall? If so, i’mma have to stock up on dragon breath buns that increase crit damage by 10%, to balance it back up..

2nd question.
We lose 10% damage…. we gain ???
Like, is there gonna be some sort of… “Yeah we know all we’re doing is hurting ya, but at least you get this!”
This isn’t really a tweak… like in patch notes where they say
“Necromancers will have this cast time altered, this will be reduced in damage by a little, this skill now adds bleed. Etc etc”
This is a straight up “THIS PATCH IS JUST TO HURT BERSERKERS!”

Like, we’re kinda squishy… but now we do less damage, and are still squishy…
That’s okay, I suppose for, PVE…

But, a lot.. of people.. do World Versus World…
So, less damage against players… still squishy.. w..why am I a berserker in WvW again?

It’s more like -20-25% Crit Dam and this is ‘supposed’ to be -10% overall dam, with the implication that you only crit about half the time. There is no +anything. I assume you’re running Zerker gear because you’re capable and know everything else is garbage, apart from min/maxing. Zerker is not the only set effected by the ‘normalization’ of Crit Dam.

There were some calculations done in other threads for zerker builds. Depending on other considerations (like runes, buffs/food used, traits etc), overall damage reduction is definitely bigger than 10% and can reach as high as 18% or so.

No, “we” do not gain anything for this – except for perhaps better streamlining of stats.

AT the same time it is not a “nerf zerkers” change. While it does lower dps, it hits all the hybrid damage builds that depended on crit damage way harder, and does nothing to affect DPS dominance in PvE.
(it is a bit different for sPvP and WvW – here zerker builds will suffer)

Actions, not words.

Well I’m not sure what build to really go for then.
I do PVE and WVW, and I’m a Warrior so I focused on Berserker for damage.
Not exactly dishing out conditions nor am I gonna be doing much healing…

I wasn’t really able to solo many folks in WvW, but now I’m gonna be straight up screwed.
It’s just, this sucks. I focused so much on Berserker. Berserker accessories, backpiece, ascended armor, ascended weapons…
Like, why would they even want to do this sudden nerf? The game has been out for a year and a half and things were fine, maybe tweak it here and there but to just waltz in and say “Hey! You guys now do less damage and pretty much are gonna get backhanded in pvp…. No refunds!”
