Guild Wars 2

… It apears my Guild Wars 2 game has been replaced by the “Press 1” simulator 2014. started up a new character just to get back into the feel of the game, I have several lvl 80 from last time I played, but I felt like starting anew… and what the hell?

I rarely if ever comment on forums, I find that they tend to be highly negative stomping grounds for a vocal minority, but this change has quite frankly gotten me suffiencently riddled up.

Who the heck figured this was an alright thing to do? This is quite posibly the worst idea I have ever seen applied in an MMO ever. One thing is locking away content that was previously available right out the gate as “rewards” which is quite frankly insulting, it is something else entirely that we have to wade through what is now, posibly, 40 levels of the worst leveling experience in MMO history before we have access to the actaul game.

I reconize this is an attempt from some very, very… very not-in-touch game devs to be more inclusive to new players… but would it really have hurt you guys to just put a button in the character creator saying: “Are you a new player: Yes or No?” Just so that people like me for whom the orignal experience were in fact one of the reasons we played the game in the first place could get the game we originally payed for.

Truth is, I am not gonna play this game in its current state, you decided to ruin it by “fixing” one of the very best aspects of the game and, quite frankly, I find it disgusting that you cheat people to such a degree by removing a core feature.

I know the people to whom this is adressed most likely are not gonna read this, as they are clearly so far removed from the people playing the game that they would never set foot on a forum but I seriously hope this is rolled back or at the very least changed to a sufficient degree for the game to become enjoyable pre-40 again.

Until then I will be joining what seem to be the rather large group of people who will abandon the game for now. To anyone who does in fact enjoy this change, yes, I am adressing both of you, I hope you enjoy what Guild Wars 2 have to offer, it’s a great game with a great artstyle and some truely good ideas, but right now it is not for me.

You should have unlocked all 5 weapon skills by level 10. Getting to level 10 is roughly 75min play time at a normal pace.

While they increased the levels certain skills are unlocked, the speed at which you reach the levels were increased accordingly. You will unlock skills at roughly the same pace (with the exception of your Elite skill). I am of course referring to Utility skills mainly as getting to level 10 (which unlocks all weapon skills for all weapons) is doable in one sitting for every type of player (casual or hardcore). Most people who are complaining about this change are complaining about Utility skill unlocks and F1-F4 skill unlocks, rather than weapon skill unlocks.

I guess if you want to say that your first 10min of playing the game is a Press 1 simulator, then yes, you are correct. Anything beyond that is exaggeration to try and make a point.

To put into perspective: Took me 4hrs or so of playing Destiny to unlock all of my weapons. And here we are complaining that the weapon skills in GW2 are unlocked a little over an hour into playing the game…

While I agree the new leveling up isn’t how I would have done it; having leveled a character through it, it’s not a big deal. It’s actually more rewarding to level up now, in my opinion, than it was before, and you level up significantly faster 1-15 than you did before. For a veteran player, sure it might be frustrating, but as a Veteran player you know where to go and how to level (hopefully) so it should be even faster leveling passed those “tutorial” levels. Heck, go to EoTM and you will hit 20 before the end of the day.

They are really trying very hard to one up SOE. They are even calling it the NPE which makes me think some guy at the top is trolling us. Like he has some bet going on that he can ruin a game more than SOE and still get people to give them money.

Edit: forgot to add that they are not done making changes yet. We still have a ways before we are at the same build as China. So really the only difference between what arenanet is doing and what SOE did is that SOE did the change over night but arenanet is dragging it out over a 1 year period.

Yea I understand the OP. I am dumping the game for now as well. Not interested in the fan-boy defenders input so don’t bother posting to this, I wont see it.

Locking the elite skill until lvl 40 was the only thing about this patch that made sense.

Well i was actually thinking of coming back to gw2 after 4 months, but from what i see i wont be since i love playing alts this would be major pain in the kitten , and they did not think to maybe make personal story with zhaitan soloable now….
