So I was in the Dredgehaunt Cliffs just walking around and I came across a Portobello Mushroom (I think), So I go to gather it and as soon as I gather it a naked level 51 ranger (Effective Level) appears on top of the node and gathers it and then disappears. I didn’t catch her name but it was something like hfhfhfhffh… so… Thats BS. What can be done about it? What can I do about it? How would I go about reporting such a thing?

I looked it up and I guess this has been going on for a while… so… When will something be done about this?

I saw one in Queensdale yesterday- what really scared me was that it had a normal name not something like hufryrw.
It was very clearly a bot too- it spawned right on top on me at the node- mined once and disappeared- too fast to report, because of it’s name I could enter it and report it that way though

Be careful when they have a normal name…a lot of the time it’s a simple case of the game not rendering players around you (due to culling) or someone using a WP. Find it hard to believe that botters would be able to get away with tele-hacking. That sort of thing should send up all kinds of red flags server side.

I get what you are saying- this was no where near a waypoint in the middle of nowhere, I doubt if it was culling as well since there was nothing there and this player sort of flickered.
What I usually do about cases like this is check the account name in whisper- often the account is hkjlrgehlhe, even if the bot has a regular name

I see one sometimes, has a valid-looking name, but they seem to teleport all the way around a farmable area looking for mobs. So what you’ll see is this toon actually hack & slash into mobs, then when finished it’ll not run like other players but instead teleport a stationary-looking toon around a path, and moving much faster than even the most swift of other players. So, no it’s not culling (I know firsthand what this is like) and they aren’t actually moving. In any case just report them for botting, because myself and the other players I farmed with know that this isn’t natural behaviour.

Yes, it should. As should speed hacks and all the other stuff hackers can do right now. But Anet didn’t deemed it necessary to put ANY type of server side check into the game. Protection from such hacks is just non existent. And all those hacks have been abused, known and reported since the beginning of public beta (is guess the first hacks were even developed during closed beta!), so cheaters are using those hacks for almost a full year now.

Bots using teleport hacks isn’t new either, it only became more popular among the bot owners, because of the profit. I have seen teleporting bots since 2 weeks after release.

PS: Don’t even bother to answer to this thread any more. It’s probably going to be deleted like any other thread mentioning the existence of hacks, cheats & bots in GW2. Hiding their existence from the public is the only way Anet knows to deal with them.

When you see someone appear with a name like fhfhfhfhfhf, immediately click on them, right click their portrait, hit ’report’ and *then* wait and see what they do.

When you click report, it will open a small window for you to choose what to report them for; once that window’s open, it stays open until you close it, even if they port away.

Once you’re sure they’re botting, submit the report. And do be sure to watch em to make sure they’re botting - some people just have stupid names, so that fhfhfhfhfhfh might actually be a legit, albeit incredibly uncreative player.

When you see someone with a ’normal’ name appear out of thin air onto a node, do the same thing. There’s a good chance someone got a hold of their login info and is illegitimately controlling another person’s toon... but just because someone’s account fell victim to someone else, don’t let that stop you from submitting the report - that account needs to be frozen until its security is restored. ...and I suspect a good portion of the folks who get their login info stolen are the folks who are paying real cash for leveling services or buying gold, etc., so they should be banned anyway.

It’s getting on for 2 months now and l’m still reporting the same 3 bots in Timberline Falls, yup they are still there up by the Asura champ.

I have no idea what Anet are doing, but l find this very frustrating that they get away with it 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I have reported them many times, and they still bot on.

I have seen this before in Korean grinds, promises to deal with bots, and no action.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

There are a lot of spots in Orr and Frostgorge Sound. Tons of Bots farming there for months. I had my guild mates report them too, but they still happy farming. Is there a reason in reporting, if nothing happens?

Keep reporting, they’ll get to it eventually. I can only imagine the insane volume of reports they have to sift through. You not seeing the action being taken doesn’t mean action isn’t being taken.

It’s frustrating, but that’s just all the more reason to keep trying to stamp out the offenders.

Please report them as Haltus Kain explained.

On another hand you can report them submitting a ticket and providing the screenshots you took.

Exactly, please keep on reporting them.

Many thanks for your help.
