And I don’t buy it. EVERY day I report the botters in Frostgorge Sound farming trolls, have been doing so for a month, and EVERY day I see the same ones there running in circles, ruining the economy.

Guess I’ll have to settle for repeatedly killing some with the champion mob.

bro this is ncsoft.

they will spend millions on devs to avoid spending thousands on what is obvious to every western mmo company.

and that is pay people to actively enforce botting in teh open world.

i have watched them do this since 2004. it’s not going to change today.

one of the many things that makes gw2 yet another stereotypical ncsoft game.

if they do pay some people it will be on the cheap and it will be very flashy with alot of fanfare and A LOT of false positives.

the song remains the same.

they’d literally rather kill their games then do something constructive and meaningful and not totally ingenious but bizarre and self destructive.

we’ve been telling them for almost a decade, stop hurting legit players and go directly after teh bots. hire the people and give them the hours and pay and training to do a decent job. year after year, game after game, the song remains the same.

you take the good with the bad. if you like what ncsoft has to offer in terms of their games, then you have to take the rampant botting with it too. it’s a package deal.

welcome to ncsoft gaming bro.

who doesn’t love wow clones?

Every game hurts the players while trying to hurt the bots. I remember years and years ago when WoW trial accounts could send mail, collect money, join groups, send tells, and use public channels. What trial accounts turned into was a watered down version of the game that could kill a few wolves and that was the end of it.

Warhammer Online, Rift, and nearly every big name MMO in between (including GW2) has had bots, and continue to have bots. They’re not going anywhere, no matter how many GMs you pay to wander around.

Bots are stealing accounts and buying with stolen credit cards. It’s far more effective to prevent them from using those methods. Players have a tendency to shirk their responsibility in this matter too. It’s not just about reporting bots, it’s also about not setting your password to “password” or “p4ssw0rd1”, but having a complex and impossible-to-guess password.

In fact, the GW2 staff here on the forums gave a few links and suggestions on how to create the ideal password. Some bots are playing on stolen accounts that players are trying to get back, and others are playing on stolen credit cards. You can’t just ban and forget, there is a lot in between, including not screwing over the players who were already stolen from.

So you say you read the sticky but it doesn’t seem like you did. They explain what they are doing about it and that it takes TIME.

Hi everyone.

Altephor, we understand your words but rest assured that the team is indeed working on this. Thanks to everyone for the feedback. The best thing players can do is continue to report every incident of suspected botting behavior they witness using the in-game ticketing system.

Thanks for the continued reports and everyone’s patience.
