So I was looking at Titles
The game is still young. :-) Every time they have added holiday stuff so far, they have added new titles. Guild Wars 1 got more titles as the game got older, additional titles came with expansions for example. So I would expect new titles with expansions for sure, much less the holiday events.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Titles
If you scroll to the bottom, there were the original titles (core and Prophesies) then the titles they added later.

Yeah like Astral said, we’ll get more titles with expansion and holiday events.
p.s. I keep misreading titles with the human body part >.>

So far, it shouldn’t really surprise you that there isn’t enough titles. Everything in GW2 seems to be done in a manner where there simply isn’t enough to back up the implementation. Take a look at Town Clothes. Only now are the starting to get some options available, but it’s still horribly lacking.
Hmmmm. I think some people can be a little unrealistic about what a new game has to offer. Many come in from older games with years of content available to them. They compare the new game to a mature game, and yes it’s lacking. But that’s to be expected. No one wants to wait one or two or three years, but realistically to compare 2 different aged games that’s what you have to do.
Yep, no new game can create content faster than people can play through it. It’s the same with books. It can take an author years to write a book, people read it in a week and go to the next book. To them it’s just another read.
No one reads the first book of a trilogy finishes it and says, there’s not enough to do. They wait for the second book to come out. Because the process of creating something is always longer than the process of experiencing that creation. How long does it take to paint a picture, as opposed to viewing it? How long did it take to build Space Mountain, as opposed to the five minute ride of experiencing it?
So this game comes out with tons of content, far more than any MMO released in memory at launch, but it was never going to be “enough”.
Not enough townsclothes. Not enough armor styles. Not even dungeons. Not enough personal story. Not enough PvP modes. Not enough stuff to do in WvW. But it’s still more than any MMO has come out with…maybe ever. There was more content. We’ve played through it.
Anet is working on more stuff. More armor styles, more clothing, more dungeons….more content. They’re hiring more programmers and artists even, to try to do it faster. But if they release too fast, then it’s buggy and no good. There’s no way any MMO developer can win.
I’m done with almost all the content in this game…just about anyway. I still have jumping puzzles left, because I consciously didn’t look up where they were. I’m trying to find them. On new characters I turn off map markers and try to complete zones without having a checklist. It’s like a word search without a word list. It’s harder but more rewarding for me.
I slowed my progress through the game down by not going to walkthrough sites and not going to the wiki that much in an effort to savor the content that’s there…because I knew that there would never be enough if I just played it through.
My expectations are built on years of seeing other MMOs. Six months after SWToR was released, what were the complaints. No end game. Nothing to do at max level. Same with Rift. Same with every game that’s come along. There’s nothing to do once you get to end game, until they make it.
The difference between me and others is that I expected it to take years to get the content up to the level of games that have been around for years.
I wish there were PvE titles that were acquired through something remotely resembling competence, rather than just a bunch telling people how much gold you’ve spent, or that you can spend 20 minutes fixing signs in wayfarer. The only one that really fulfills this at all is Dungeon Master.

They had a mixture of “dumb” titles (like Drunkard) and titles that showed you did content in Guild Wars 1. But most of the content titles came with the expansions. Again, the game needs to mature. As content comes out, the titles will come also. We have come in at the start of this mmo and almost by definition, the “cupboards” are a bit bare. It takes time, money and talent to make all the things people are asking for. New armor skins. New town clothes. Different types of town clothes, wearable in combat. New weapon skins. Completely new weapons, with new skills. New skills for old weapons, which means revamping the skill bar completely. New titles. New traits. Old traits fixed. Classes balanced. All these things and more have been asked for. As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day and Guild Wars 2 won’t have everything people want even in a year. :-)

Also with Guild Wars 1, a lot of titles lost their original meaning anyway.
The survivor title became a complete joke once they added the Kilroy Stonekin “dungeon”, whatever it was called.
Even the title for missions was silly. I mean, you got them for running through the missions, but as you could pay runners to get you through all the hard ones, what was the point.
Other titles were just grinds or perseverance. I mean how hard was death-leveling really? Once you learned how to do it, you could easily get the Defender of Ascalon title, just by doing the same stupid thing every night before bed.
And even that title is not the same anymore since they added dailies to Pre.
I am rather impressed that there are so many missed oportunitys. i mean, how about “slayer” titles.
I guess they are going for an “archievent-feeling” like they had in GW1, unfortunatly there arent enough to somehow satisfy.
In my opinion they should have taken a look at the Warhammer titles:
http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_titles
My real point was the fact that there are 36 for pvp/wvw.
If they had time to do that why didn’t they spread that out to the pve side of the game.
It just looks lopsided is all. I know in time there will be more. I just wish it would be a bit soon there later for the pve side is all.
I mean IF you add in HoM, which I feel you should not. Those should always be on their own. That adds up to 24… still 12 less then pvp/wvw

Dungeon Master is meaningless because there are Arah dungeon groups selling p4 slots at the final boss. Makes the title rather trivial, yes??
The only PvE title that involves any competence and work is ‘Been there, done that’ …

The slayer titles are completely meaningless, and I don’t think they’d add a single thing to the game. I mean killing X number of skelk or skale or Jotun…just play enough and you’ll do it.
The only one that is anything resembling a challenge is Giant Slayer and that’s still just a matter of patience and farming.

Yes, I was surprised there wasn’t certain titles, like the slayer title track. They are handling titles differently and it decreases the number you can get.
For example, the Slayer title. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Norn_rank
Each of those sub titles was wearable as you advanced along the track until eventually you reached Slayer of All. They could have done something like that. Slayer of imps, Slayer of Nightmares, Slayer of Heroes, etc… until you reach Slayer of All. This sort of system would have greatly increased the number of titles and is a missed opportunity as many people now have gotten everything except Giants and maybe one or two others.
Who knows why they did it this way. Possibly they ran out of time and certain things were put on the back burner or only half done.

None (possibly one with extreme play) of the WvW titles are achievable so you can remove those from the count too.

Personally I’d count that one to the PvP titles. Grey zone yes, but I’ve been there and done that for the PvE side a long time ago and still need to finish those 4 WvW maps.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

New game is new.
Have you looked at what is required for WvW titles? I haven’t seen a single player with ANY of those titles. Those requirements are mind-boggling.
PvP titles are just as achievable as PvE titles, and the number of titles is basically the same.

Someone calculated how much time it would take to get one of the WvW titles and it was it was like, !!!, no one in their right mind is ever going to get that title. The amount of time involved makes killing 1000 giants a walk in the park. It was literally years with doing it hours a day. So yeah, I think we can take the WvW titles off the list.
Most of the titles I see are either PvP titles, HoM titles, or the more common PvE titles like Combat Healer or Been There, Done That (plus some special event titles). It would be nice to see more PvE titles for things like slayer or JPs or even more exploration titles.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Some Heroes Ascent emotes took a long time to get. The phoenix was eventually achieved like two years after the game was released (although it was added later as people got closer to the next rank that needed an emote).
Taking a long time to achieve a title isn’t a bad thing. It just makes it that much more impressive if/when someone does it.
Personally, I’m not a title person. Although, I did eye up that kegmaster one.
Gear based titles would be a good add:
*Having all of one type of gear Armor,Wep, Trinkets (exotic only) Different Types = Different Title
*Having 6 Ascended Items on at one time
*Getting Boon duration over 100%
*Having all Dyes on one character
*Achieving a specified level of Armor, Attack, Precision, Crit Damage or Vitality
*Total pve kills
*Combination Titles : Where you get a title for getting multiple other titles
*5 level 80 characters
I could go on an on but yeah you get the point.

I always found it odd that the different orders give you titles like Warmaster, Magister and Lightbringer; but you don’t actually get the title… Even when Trahearne makes you commander, you don’t get the title and that guy at the end of your personal storyline granting you ‘hero of Orr’ (or something, can’t remember) doesn’t grant the title…
I mean is it too hard to make character-bound titles?

I do agree with this.
After playing LORTRO for a year I have got to say there is such a thing as too many titles. I don’t look at the list anymore and have used ‘well-travelled’ on most of my toons.

see… someone who understands where I am coming from
There may be 36 titles for PvP and WvW, but how many of those are possible to achieve within your lifetime.
(Attack/Defend Stonemist Castle 100,000 times comes to mind)
