So...New Patch....
+1
I am also getting out my wallet.
Plus, it’s not with the new patch but, just to say I love the new armor skins in the gem store (ANet, take my cash. I don’t need to eat).
Lots of nice changes there, really looking forward to the wallet. Only one im concerned with is the reduction in graphic details when there’s a lot going on. Does this mean legendary effects will dissapear? Without my ponies i dont have a lot left lol.
Fantastic update, especially Solo Arena. Goodbye premades.
Seems good.
But i am too pessimistic to not foresee some untold stuff that will ruin it.
Otherwyse it will be a good patch.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Don’t even care if the living story events turn out to suck dongs (which they may or may not, we’ll see). Already one of the best updates so far. Whichever team this is, keep them around.
except for the watchwork-stuff (technology is charr-stuff kitten . why do humans have this?) that patch sounds amazing!
currency wallet? so i dont have to waste half a bank-pane for honor-badges anymore? yay!
whats even more amazing is that “dong” isnt on the list of kitten-censored words…

It probably won’t matter too much in PvE. Outside of the grand Kakra event failure, I’ve yet to see significant issues.
For WvWvW, it will hopefully help lots. Get all three factions into Stonemist Castle at the same time, and it is click a button, wait 30 seconds, spell goes off, wait again, death.
by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game.”

I’m sort of hoping that they just do something with opaqueness / transparency of the effects.
If they do it that way it would make it easier to see the animations of everyone involved without really reducing the graphical quality.
Great addition. However I hope dungeon tokens etc can stack more than 250. I have thousands of the blighters
It’s likely not a single team that did all this. The wallet was likely a background team, as with the effect level of detail setting. The PvP and WvW stuff was from their respective teams, as was likely the perm finisher setup. These updates were likely finished, so they bundled them in with this release.
The LW team itself probably did the pavilion, the rewards, the Queen’s Gauntlet (with unique bosses and gambit conditions), etc. Basically, the content itself.
Just my opinion though, could be wrong.
What is “Effects detail system”?
Account currency wallet much needed after having 31 stacks of Badges of Honor, so thanks Anet.
your account, and your 384 other accounts”

What is “Effects detail system”?
When there is too much pew pew on a boss, the effects will tone down so you can see what he’s doing basically.
50/50 GWAMM x3
I quit how I want
What is “Effects detail system”?
Like the intensity of the particle effects that go off and fill the screen when lots of people attack a boss, for instance. It’s all the effects from the weapons, spells etc. They have tweaked it so the intensity/density of these will scale with number of players, so the more you have, the less opaque these will be, which should improve lag, visibility and culling.
I wonder if the effect polishing they are referring too is more to reduce bandwidth and server load than it is to please the players. They have said a main issue with reducing PvE culling is bandwidth and they needed to find a way to reduce it.
I’m all for toning down some of these effects at the large encounters, but I hope they have done this right.
Probably, but that will please players anyway. Less lag, less culling and better visibility … I don’t really mind what their particular driving factor is, because the result will please a lot of people.

That all depends on if it makes the system less chatty. All depends on how it is implemented.

Technology is charr? What are the Asuras doing then? :p
Besides, it makes little sense to have the humans basically worthless in the setting of the game. They are supposed to be one of the 5 major powers in the fight against the Elder Dragons. Charrs got a strong military backed by a very advanced industrial society. Asuras are very advanced technologically, the pale tree is basically designed to mass produce intelligent troops immune to the dragon corruption along with their ability linked to the Dream.
And humans got what? They got gods that don’t really talk to them and used to give them strong magic but not anymore. It’s like when the big 5 have a meeting and the Charr ambasadors is like, hey, why do we allow the humans here? And the others say : “well better them than the Scritt, the Hylek, the Ogres or the Quaggans”
Now, they talk about Magitek armors and a military group. Seems like an interesting development for the human lore and role in Guild Wars 2
Bravo! Bravo! I have done nothing but complain of the more recent content over and over again, but the meat of this next patch looks to be headed gw2 in a crucial direction that it needs closing in on its 1 year anniversary! I am VERY happy, and very excited to play this game now.
I hope this patch sparks my interest and intensity to play once again, as well as everyone else in the community so the game we love can grow strong

Asuran Technology has a lot of magic in it. Charr technology is closer to actual RL-stuff (exaggerated of course). Imo clockwork-tech fits more into the Charr’s steampunk theme than into Asurans magic-tech-stuff.

But thats exactly what they are :P
They are rather primitive and without any special skills, but at least better than the other rather useless races.
In my opinion, they are just one of the 5 power against the dragons, because there are many of them.
Gunnar’s Hold
There’s little reason for them to regress. They got contacts with Asura and Charr technology for a sufficiently long time that they can have their own scientists of their own and start creating their own signature stuff :p
It’s most likely due to their past. Humanity used to rule all of Tyria, as well as Cantha and Elona, dominating it for a fair amount of time in the GW Universe. A rich heritage like that isn’t just forgotten, for example, The UK is no where near the prestige or power it used to wield as a country irl, and yet due to its momentous achievements in the past it is still renowned as a major power and included in all the political power plays of the world.
This is likely the same with humanity. You don’t just forget a past major power when they still have the potential to grow and a heart still kicking.
Plus Humanity fills the underdog role in this game, they represent adaptibility and hope. They are the race that stands where other races would sit down. What they lack in physical strength and intelligence they make up for with emotional and spiritual tenacity.
There’s a reason in the 200 year movement of the world it is mentioned that the other races await humanity to inspire them again with a hero.
Norns have expertise of the wild, a connection with nature.
Charr are military powerhouses with technological advances.
Asurans are genius philosophers and inventors who combine magic with technology.
Sylvari are scholar like beings with natural affinity of defense towards the dragon plague currently sweeping the world.
And humanity is a tiny portion of all these combined (save for immunity to dragons of course), and is left in the dark only to shine brighter than all these other races combined at rare moments in time with far less to do it with. They are adaptability and hope akittens best, never surrendering till they are wiped from existence. And that is their specialty I think.
