Does Anet consider Scribing fixed?

Every recipe I see requires a finishing kit which consists of the following (simple kit example):

A) 1 Simple Scribing Kit which requires:

1 Green Wood Pen
which Requires
1 Copper Nib + 1 Green Wood Dowel
And
1 Simple Ink Set
which requires
1 Crystalline Bottle
1 Jug of Water
3 Pouches of Brown Pigment
And
1 Bag of Glittering Blotting Powder
which requires
5 piles of glittering dust
1 resonating sliver

B) 1 Sheet of extra course sandpaper which requires:

1 Sheet of Coarse Paper
which requires
1 Green Wood Pulp
1 Jug of Water
1 Bolt of Jute
And
10 Piles of Coarse Sand
which requires
At least 100 silky sand

C) 1 Vial of Linseed Oil which requires:
20 Pile of Flax Seeds
5 Milling Stone
1 Milling Basin

Scribing fixed? I don’t think so, C’mon Anet sort it out pls.

I find it mostly okay but I have plenty of stuff in the bank. I did have to go gather some seasoned wood but luckily Dredgehaunt Cliffs was great for that and I didn’t even have to fight any dredges! As for the number of intermediates it is only slightly worse than cooking.

What was broken was the cost, not the complexity. The cost has been drastically reduced, therefore scribing is fixed.

Actually, it is now greatly improved on where it was before and I find myself wanting to make more decorations how. There are still a few decorations that need sorting out (i.e. Potted Palm Tree and the others you make from it) but as far as the scribing kits go and how much you need for the pen, ink, etc that’s pretty darned good now and I don’t take any issue with that.

Though one more fix they could make would be adding the ability to put most of those mats in the mat storage. Then scribing would be doubly fixed.

Yea, overall notably cheaper, especially with certain materials needed getting a huge reduction in rarity.

Lower tier materials, like brown pigments, are still quite pricy due to demand though.

Many decorations are still quite mundane for the materials needed (potted plants in particular for me, some of the cheaper ones actually stand out more)

And some of the trophies needed for decorations are pretty rare as drops, I’ve yet to get any “Visage” drops, despite doin the temples multiple times a day (ended up just buying all of them)

Agreed on this point, but IMHO the complexity of all of the recipes is still ridiculous.

It’s certainly better than it was before, but it’s still not fixed. Specifically, what still should be looked into is still too great a dependency on sand and flax.

Actions, not words.

IMO, scribing is in a better place now, but still not perfect

> Sand supply should go up (still limited to two maps & PvP track) or sand requirements should go down more (to free up some sand for Kegs). Five Coarse Sand for one sand paper sounds a lot better to me.
> Flax Fiber is still too scarce for making supply sacks, which are needed for so many WvW buffs. Please reduce the cost from 12 to 6 /per sack.

Many decorations still need a lot of tweaking to reduce costs (100 Tribute Badges?!) or complexity of prerequisite decorations.

the complexity is onerous. it reminds me of cooking, and its intended to, and cooking is a kittening hot mess and i hate the artificial, esoteric complexity. there arent exponentially expensive recipes now, but a lot of the high tier craftables still require a mile long list of base mats. its annoying to figure out how to craft a single decoration, and then most of the nonfestival decorations are extremely underwhelming.

at least the cost isnt legendary any more. now its just ridiculous, which is kind of ok for something your guild only needs to have a couple people master. still prohibitive.

I’m thinking the example recipe I gave should look more like this:

A) 1 Simple Scribing Kit which requires:

1 Green Wood Pen
which Requires
1 Copper Nib

And
1 Simple Ink Set
which requires
1 Crystalline Bottle
1 Jug of Water
1 Pouche of Brown Pigment
1 resonating sliver

B) 1 Sheet of extra course sandpaper which requires:

1 Sheet of Coarse Paper
which requires
1 Green Wood Pulp
1 Jug of Water
1 Bolt of Jute

And
2 Piles of Coarse Sand

C) 1 Vial of Linseed Oil which requires:
1 Pile of Flax Seeds
5 Milling Stone
1 Milling Basin

Still pretty complex for ONE ingredient but this would be a step in the right direction.

I don’t mind the complexity but the fact that every single decoration will use 10 coarse sands for a base component has logjammed me. I have many other maps to enjoy, friends to help in HoT, and a Revenant I’m leveling, I don’t want to spend all my time in Silverwastes. After making HOPE my gold supply is low enough I’ll go bankrupt if I just buy the sand.

Woe.

I think it would be great if you needed the finishing kit to discover/learn the decoration recipe, but thereafter could make it from reasonable thematic mats.

Just couple examples:

Pen nib – requires 3 whole ingots….
Not only that, apparently we really suck at making sturdy items, since the pen breaks and shatters into nothingness after we write whatever we needed to write… lol.

Also, a lot of steps are rather pointless, keeping with the pen example:
We have to craft the nib, and the shaft, separately. A step or 2 can be removed from that easily enough.
I can understand some things having multiple steps, if some of those steps can branch off to other items, like paper to sandpaper.

The cost to level a scribe did go down just be sure to follow the new guide from gw2crafts.net (if you lack the guild hall unlocks, send me an ingame mail so i can give you a guest invite for RiFa). The costs to craft decorations did go down by a LOT (used to be 3 linseed oils and piles of sand paper for higher tiers, + lets not forget about the pigments)

So yes its ok now, not to hard to click through a few windows to craft a decoration if you ask me. Not something you will do every day a lot of times due to decorations limits and well it gives the illution that you are actually crafting something.

Now if you would ask me for an improvement… get rid of the processing (Even though its only 30 sec now) as it no longer has a use with resonance also removed. Just auto complete the scribe recipe after you scribe them.

So much this. I don’t think anyone particularly cared about the time to craft and resonance system. If anything it helped spread out the crafting and made the costs feel more managable.

Now that its 30 seconds and the costs are reduced down to a point where you’re encourages to make 10-20 items at a time, running back and forth to the assembly feels like needless busywork in stead of the long term planning mechanism it was when stuff took hours/days to complete.

I’m fins with the time to craft removal, but at 30 seconds per item, for every item, the entire assembly step is just a vestige of the old system. That thing needs to be removed or repurposed in to something else.
