So What is your fav gw2 map & why
I really like Mount Maelstrom. It’s got so much variety, in terrain and creatures. So many different types of mob there, and it’s a beautiful area. Underwater lava <3
The Grove,
To bad like all zones its completely unused and wasted cause everyone is standing in LA spamming LFG LVLX
Was something I hated about WoW, vast beautiful glorious completely wasted unused world, now its happening to GW2
Metrica Province / Brisban Wildlands
Queensdale gives me that feeling I felt when I first played the game. It’s sort of like awe, except more orgasmic. Yes.
I like kessex hills for the scenery. I always watch the Vistas. Everywhere else, I just skip.
Just one?
I love Fireheart Rise, it is so well done.
Mount Maelstrom, Iron marches, Dredgehaunt Cliffs
I also love the deep water in Frostgorge, or any place where you can dive down deep. I like to swing the camera up to see how far from the surface I am.
Other than that, I really love the classic provincial look of Kessex Hills. There’s some good water/lake scenery there too. Metrica Province has a cute style that reminds me of the newer Ratchet and Clank games.
Oh, I almost forgot The Grove. Specifically, those clouds of floaty glowy light balls. First time I saw those, I stood for like 5 minutes just panning the camera, getting an eyeful of the shinies. My mind went full skritt.
Most of the maps are really well done. The only ones I don’t really like are the charr ones. Although, the giant war machines are super epic!
It’s really hard to chose just one lol! I really love all the Norn areas (and I play a Sylvari!) I may have to go for Frostgorge Sound as well. Something about icy terrains just speaks to me
I love (and sometimes hate) Khylo.
Cuz I like the way the guy yells “Trebuchet!!!!”
And I love it when it broadcasts “Mulch is making it rain”
Give me any snowy map anyday. The northern Wayfarer’s Foothills. Frostgorge sound. Snowden Drifts. Those maps, when you stand on the top of a high place and look around, give you an incredible sense of scale. And then you realise, as far as I can see, I can actually explore. It isn’t just a backdrop!
Not to mention the feeling of solitude at the top of such a peak.
Favorites:
Timberline Falls
Lornar’s Pass
Kessex Hills
I loved the alpine scenery of Timberline Falls, reminds a lot of some of the areas I’ve gone backpacking here in Washington. The high snowy mountain pass in Lornar’s Pass, sloping down into the greener scenery had some really neat little nooks and crannies to explore. Kessex Hills is pretty diverse; devastated battlegrounds, neat little towns, and some wilderness areas in between (Cereboth Canyon is a pretty neat little spot).
A few others I liked:
Frostgorge Sound
Dredgehaunt Cliffs
Harathi Hinterlands
Claw of Jormag just wasn’t that impressive for me; just feels like no one really matters in the event, like you aren’t really doing anything (spam attacks → feared out of place → spam attacks again). The adds are way too hard to kill and don’t really do anything, so everyone ignores them, the ice field just feels pointless. The scenery was okay, I personally liked the dredge tunnels in the south-western portion of the map, and the south-eastern glacial lake area was pretty cool too. I also liked the jump puzzle in the Shattered Ice flow (although it wasn’t much of a puzzle, it was a kind of neat little area).
Dredgehaunt Cliffs was a neat little area, with a diverse number of enemies. The Tribulation Rift area was pretty cool, and I loved the jump puzzle in that area.
I would love to see an area based off of Yellowstone National Park in the future; the diversity of terrain and life there is amazing, the hot springs and geysers would make for some sweet scenery in game
Frostgorge Sound – Some beautiful scenery and fun fights
Blazeridge Steppes – Again beautiful scenery that transitions into the areas scarred by the dragon – fun to take down the Shatterer
Divinity’s Reach – my favorite city – what a sense of scale – I hope to see more events added here in the future to add player traffic
Those are my top three that probably are most well-represented in my GW2 wallpapers collection.
Harathi hinterlands. You can farm tier 2 (below lv 43) and tier 3 (above lv 43) mats all day and make any Tier material you need in the mystic forge!
The Grove and Celedon Forest. They are nice looking peaceful places to craft and finish dailys quickly. Used to hang out there a lot when I did TA all the time, was usually a lot of active chatter in map chat there. Not sure if it’s still like that.
Then there’s Sparkfly Fen and Kessex Hills. Those are always fun to run around in.
Just one?
I love Fireheart Rise, it is so well done.
Mount Maelstrom, Iron marches, Dredgehaunt Cliffs
Well perhaps I should have titled it fav map(s), it was very hard for me to choose just one lol. I think they’re all fantastic in their own way and I like most of them, except perhaps Orr, not because the art isn’t great but because i hate the risen hehe. So feel free to list as many as u like.
