While we wait for ANet to fix the audio bug, I just thought I’d create this thread to appreciate the lighter side of things.

Running around Bloodtide Coast for today’s dailies, a few players worked out over mapchat that not only were we hearing shouts from across the entire map, but it felt like we were tuned to a few specific players (of course, coincidence =/= correlation etc etc) – one player said they mostly heard the same “For Great Justice!”, another two said they got a lot of “Turret Up”. So – if we assume that you’re randomly “tuned in” to the shouts from a few other players on the map – what is your shout radio picking up today?

For most of my journey through Bloodtide Coast, I was accompanied by the voice of a female mesmer running Mantra of Pain. “Agony, torment, pain!”

I miss the mantra calls! ;-; My favorite call in GW2 is the male Charr Mantra of Resolve. I remember being quite miffed when they stealth-nerfed the frequency.

As far as what my characters zergbrains are filing, I get a lot of turrets and necromancer minion calls. =P

Oh well my characters shout a bit of every race, gender, and profession’s quotes…

Finally a benefit to being totally deaf… All these story elements I’ve been missing because of missing subtitles has finally paid off. Everything is coming Milhouse!

Every time I hear those, I laugh to myself and think “Who the kitten is getting downed in this zone?” Of course, I level alts frequently, and the lower zones are pretty dirt-simple. :P

That’s like the best bug ever. I run around the maps with 3 shouts and “Lung capacity” trait.

Honestly yesterday I was playing on my Norn Necromancer for Teq, and I kept hearing “Praise the Spirits” and “That’s a fine turret!” so I think I had a Norn Engineer running around in my head. I seem to keep getting shouts from the same race but the wrong class, as when I was on my Asuran Ranger the other day I kept hearing what I think was an Asura Warrior.

On a positive side, only since very recently we’ve been able to hear any shout other than For Great Justice. When the game was new, I was disappointed only I could hear my shouts, and then only very occasionally. With this bug, since I have not been able to play one character of each race/gender/profession mix, it’s the FIRST time I’ve heard many of the voice acting for of all types of Profession/race combos.

Ultimately I wish it was fixed to player taste under an option menu or similar. I actually want to hear every other shout around me, rather than just the “whoosh” generic sound (Asura’s tend to be the most entertaining, and I only have a male Engineer one.)

My game obviously think my toon is a coward. For the most part I hear various pleads for help and “Retreat!”

I got search and rescue on my norn warrior last night :p

I’m not really sure I believe that its picking up other players’ as I get it all the time even on nearly empty maps (maps so empty that I’m being given the “go to a new instance and get a bonus” prompt).

That said, my character had a little battle with him/herself and the apparent multiple personalities that have invaded his mind, that was kind of funny. Something along the lines of

“Die!”
“Stand your ground!” (these were basically one right after another, which was particularly funny)
“I need some help…”
“Retreat!”

What if… The shouts you hear are the mortified souls of the players you’ve killed in PvP coming back for revenge?
