So, about Guild Halls...[Suggestions]
Have the guild halls actually been confirmed, yet?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Upcoming_changes_and_features says guild halls aren’t worked on but the sources are over a year old. Maybe we need an update on whether this has changed or not?
nice ideas, how about this:
Combine player housing with guild halls.
“6-10 Location markers around the map for buildable structures”
exactly! A special locations on guild’s (map) hall, where guild members can “build” their houses. A player could only have one house so If he/she would represent other guild (or his/her private guild) same house will apear on this guild map. And it won’t be deleted when he/she leave guild.

I think it’s safe to assume that halls are steadily crawling up on their to-do lists, yes.

Could work, but when there are over 100-200 members in a guild it becomes either a bit crowded or people get left out. I think the solution to this is something like an instance in an instance. (like a portal to “Nearby Home Island” or smth like that.

Want Guild Halls… How about this? (warning: it’s a long, but fun read)

I’m not a fan of guild halls – it dilutes the population too much.
I haven’t read any credible source that days guild halls or anything similar is coming.

For maestrochino:
This is a snipit of a quote from the ANet Studio Design Director Chris Whiteside, during the CDI – Horizontal Progression Thread. The full thread is 67 pages long but towards the end there was a lot of discussion about Guild halls.
Hi All,
Thanks for all of your feedback. The stakeholders have been sent the proposal (and have already been impacted by the conversation anyway, which is the most important element). Note the RP elements are not lost on me.
As such we will be stickying this thread and will be opening up Process Evolution Phase 2 on the 22nd of Jan.
Thank you all so much for you contributions to the topic and also for helping to shape the best working practices of the CDI.
We are starting to get there as a collaborative design group.
Here is the proposal:
Our Horizontal Progression Proposal
The Reward and Associated Journey— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing (Customizable from rewards gained in the open world), Guild Halls (Customizable from mass play rewards) and Map Wide Meta events unlocked through Order progression (Leading to both individual and group rewards such as titles and skins)

So does this mean that Guild Halls are being worked on? No.
But the interoffice proposal has been made by ANet, to ANet so at least it is now officially… On their radar.
Even if they add Guild Halls they will probably function like PvP Arenas, i.e. you pay cash to keep “renting” one, which will render their purpose obsolete.

EFWinters:
I can’t say that ANet won’t do that but I can say that I did not read anything about that in the 67 pages I referenced above.
If they do add Guild Halls, it would be cool to see them function much like the Heart of the Mists does, where you can come and go at your own convenience. The way it worked in GW1 was a little bit clumsier, if I remember correctly… but it has been a while since I played that, so I’m not really sure. O_o
There is zero confirmation that Guild Halls is coming, and speculating that they are ‘on the radar’ simply because it’s discussed on the CDI (which time and time again is repeatedly a discussion and not a concrete plan to have things in future releases).
Anet is simply aware of it, which isn’t newsworthy. Just like how they are aware of people wanting mounts, cheap legendaries and new classes.
Say for the own island i do not know how much strain that will cause on the servers keep in mind every person can have there own one person guild if we need a full zone for that one person it may be too much.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
Funny thing that comes to mind is that for guilds that are very large(and i’m sure there are a few with 100+ members) that the way this game is set up would cause an overflow which wouldn’t work out.

As I understood it, Guild Halls were not intended as a sort of “home instance” for the entire guild but rather a centerpiece for GvG… there is no GvG in GW2.

There player made GvG and it works well the best zone to see them is OS. The only problem is the limitation of what guild you can fight with. In a way its better for the players to make there own content so they can feel ownership of it. I am not sure if ppl would like “real” GvG in gw2 because its going to be in spvp.

A Lot of those points are what I would like to see in guild halls; utilitarian, themed, segmented structures. I really hope they add guild halls in eventually, and improve home instance customisation.
Just as a random idea to spurt out, maybe it could involve this Isgarren guy: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wizard's_Tower
In old frail man’s voice “Oooh pay me a bazillion floobyflibbidydoobydoos and I’ll make you a magical island where you can party like craaaazy with yo fellow acquaintances”
Also I hate my user ID.

It’s kind of a prestige thing for anet to implement Guild Halls, so it’s inevitable. I’m aware of the fact that there are many aspects of the game requiring rework/work and are higher priority than Guild Halls, but really, it is one of those things they want to implement sooner than later. Simply because it is what “defined” the old GW1. I also think that they are hesistant to bring back GvG because of the same reason: they want GvG somehow tied to Guild Halls. Either way, it’s on their agenda, and imo suggestions are always welcome.

What if the guild halls would be located in the actual open world – within the cities and towns of the world? Obviously the upkeep for the larger halls would have to be big enough so only large guilds could afford to have them. Smaller guilds would have smaller halls and houses, also in the open world.
I think as long as Anet hasnt figured out how to transfer guild banks between servers, they wont implement guild halls because it would tie guilds towards servers and stop them from changing servers.

Well that’s easy, they just have to use a modded overflow system, only guild members can get into.
Unfortunately, I believe that we will never have Guild Halls or GvG. Ever.
ANet talked about housing before release. It was 20 months ago. Never heard anything about from them after release. Guild Halls existed mostly because GvG existed. ANet will not release GvG, because it would kill WvW in a certain degree and they blindly believe that sPvP/tPvP is the way that GW2 small scale organized PvP is meant to be played.
I may be pessimist but I don’t have any hope anymore about serious development or great new features in this game.

I don’t think even anet got to the point where they should decide about this. Then again, I’d rather encourage them with good ideas to do something, instead of calling upon their past statements to implement something that isn’t vital to the game.
Remember: not one of their minigames were mandatory either, (and only a small number of players are consistent participants) so there is a good chance we get guild halls just because it’s wanted by many players.
Also, please, stay on topic
