So about balance patch
Any one else think that those nerfs mostly to espec are just in order to make the new one to shine?? What’s iS your thoughts about the balance patch in general
I’m absolutely certain that someone else shares your rather cynical world view, and so believes that anet are deliberately “destroying” something in order to make something else looks good.
The reality is that the patch seems like a balance patch: it adjusts various things that are not working as desired, moving some classes up, some down, and focusing on how to make underused skills and traits more usable.
My biggest thought was, in fact, that it was surprisingly information about why a number of those changes happened, compared to many games balance patches.

I think that nerfs are as important as buffs in balancing, and both are cheaper than overhauling skills
Mesmer phantasms were buffed, a few skills got increased cooldowns (so a ‘nerf’), and a few were overhauled (e.g. epidemic). I’d like to take time to play the game with the changes before offering an opinion about whether they matter at all, let alone with whether they were bad or good for the game generally.
And generally, I don’t care whether ANet changed anything to make room for future changes — if the changes are good for gameplay, I’m in favor regardless of any ‘hidden’ motivations behind them.
I cannot say whether there is some motivation on ANet’s part to have upcoming Elite Specs stand out as options or not. However, the idea that ANet made balance changes “just” for that reason ignores a great many facts. All one need do is revisit the WvW, PvE or profession sub-boards and/or the GW2 Reddit to see that the balance patch addressed at least some of the complaints about current skills and builds expressed by players. Whether those complainers think the changes addressed their real concerns or not is another matter.
It looked to me that they just finally brought down some of the best meta builds in the game of every class to be more in line with alternative builds and play styles. This just opens the door to more viable build diversity. There was also a lot of complaining earlier when the expansion first hit that the elites weren’t in line with the other trait lines. I honestly think they are just finally making the changes that many would have hoped would have happened a long time ago. I expect the new elite specializations to be more in line with the current/nerfed HoT elite specs since if they aren’t, based on what I read in the forums since the expansion, there will be a lot of upset people.
