I knock out the daily.

I pop in a few times a day and set new buy orders/post whatever stuff I got.

That’s it. I get my laurels and money.

Seems like something is missing here.

It’s totally up to you to fill that void. There’s content for it.

It seems like you aren’t standing around for a few hours waiting on meta events (dragons and such). Shame on you, don’t you want to be one of the cool kids too?

I did the same, then I quit the game.

I feel like there are no real interesting things left for small guilds and small teams to do.
WvW obviously favours larger guilds, GMs are for big guilds by design.

Of course, you can PUG Fractals, but why would you? They get boring after just couple times. Small groups have literally nothing immersive.

Pretty much this. The game is becoming a “go big or go home” type game and that is just boring to me. I don’t want to be part of a game that requires players to have to join a 300+ member guild in order to successfully(and quickly) knock out missions to get Ascended tier equipment.

Sorry, but this game suffers from a severe case of “zerg” behavior. Too much emphasis on ‘big’, not enough on the player.

Oh, here’s what I do.

I check the clock, realize my Dailies should recycle soon so I put aside the piles of paperwork I have to slog through for my actual paid job.

I log in, see what the Daily requirements are and think about it before picking one of my characters to focus on and a direction to send them off in. Preferably some direction I won’t get bored in, which has sometimes meant WvW for “Veterans, Events, Kill Count, Variety” and such.

I listen to see if the guild is doing a dungeon run, since I’m always up for spending time with them. Maybe they just want to do Claw of Jormag or something, so I’ll hop over there and do it and maybe scour Frostgorge for those four Tier 6 material nodes.

About an hour after we’re done with that, I ask if anything else is going on . . . if not, I log out and go back to crunching out paperwork.

On the rare days I actually have time to call my own, I find something else interesting to do. Such as my charr’s personal story, or poking around on my elementalist to try . . . yet again . . . to get a good feel for the class. (I failed miserably during Beta Weekends so I shelved it as a class I’d try out. Along with thief. I simply can’t do a thief justice.)

Seeking assistants for the Asuran Catapult Project. Applicants will be tested for aerodynamics.

Well my problem isn’t that I can’t do anything without others. In fact if you want to get things done in a game without having to even talk to anyone, this is your game. I cleared all dungeons and ran up to fractal 41 just through gw2lfg.com.

There’s little point to running dungeons period though. Some people farm CoF and stuff for money, that’s fine for them. Doesn’t interest me, don’t need it. I think they overestimated how cool the dungeon armor is and how much people wanted the skins. There honestly isn’t a single dungeon set that I look at and say “I want that skin”. I don’t mean “I don’t feel like farming to get it”, I mean if I could have any of the full sets appear in my inventory for free right now, I wouldn’t really want them.

Fractals, well you can get your rings and backpiece there, fill up your inventory with the 20 slot bags. It’s all no problem, can all be pugged.

Fractals are one of the better designed things I think, in at least giving you a reason to go there a bit more. You get your rings and back there, the 20 slot bags, it’ll have you coming back for a while before you’ve exhausted the place. Not bad.

I’m unguilded (Well, I’m in a one person guild, me). I have a legendary. I have all the ascended except for the accessories which I’ll just get with the laurels. I have a good amount of money. I’m not a TP baron but I make a good amount of money flipping, enough that doing things for money doesn’t really interest me.

I’m not missing anything by not doing guild missions, I’ve seen what they entail and it’s nothing special at all. Basically I’m just plain out of content so I’m just stalling by raising money and getting the daily laurel. Forget vertical progression, I’m even out of horizontal progression to go for. I can get another legendary (which is actually what I’m saving up for now) but the money for that will come anyway.

Hoping the WvW update makes doing WvW something more meaningful.

Well, really that’s exactly what they want us to do. They want us to keep logging in daily to do the pseudo content that they’ve provided until they are able to push out an expansion for us to buy that has actual things to do.

If you do more than just that, you’ll start to realize how minor all of their monthly ‘updates’ really are. They have too few people on the live team to do anything of substance.

Toons: Foreseer, Geikamir, Rapscallion, Specimen, Scythian, Zeau, Ärtifact, and Replica.

I guess you missed that part about no expansion in the works.

I agree with the rest of your post.

so far its disapointing, not as much as far as qty is concerned, but mostly about the quality&direction of the game.

seems like they dont know how to put the “fun” into it.

Just quit for a few months.

I left shortly after the Karka events, stopped back briefly during Christmas to play the bell ringing mini game, and only just got back into the swing of things a few days ago. The game was starting to get really boring around the time that I left, but now it’s fun again.

The Long Road
Goal: To have one character of every race, gender, and armor class combination at level 80.
Current progress: Human 4/6 | Charr 1/6 | Norn 1/6 | Sylvari 1/6 | Asura 1/6 | Total: 8/30
