So i got back to GW2 after a while .
The game was advertised as not having the holy trinity so I very very highly doubt that the holy trinity would ever be added to the game.
Until you think you can have fun without the holy trinity, your probably better off finding a different game to play.
The whole idea behind the combat roles and the lack of the Holy Trinity in GW2 is that most classes are able to provide a little bit of everything. If the groups you are running with are literally just auto-attacking, then yeah, you’re not gonna have a good time. However, if everybody uses some of their support spells/abilities from time to time, the party will receive boons and healing necessary to keep going.
Forcing somebody into the tank or healer role is unnecessary. As long as your team has a balance of abilities, there should definitely be enough tankiness and support built in to the rotations to avoid dying.
You can too be healing support. At least that was the case last time I checked, which was a while ago. Warriors have good AoE healing. Mesmer has great AoE healing (I did some calculations once that a 20+ raid of Mesmers could heal each other up from 0 to 20K HP in a couple of seconds, lol). Guardian also has great healing of course and is the simplest of the bunch and can spec for quick revive.
Problem is, no one will appreciate you for it because they probably wont even notice you keeping them alive. Most of the time, they wont think they needed it. And they’d probably be correct. GW2 is based more on damage avoidance than it is on actually healing wounds.
Don’t blame the game, blame the players!
If most people in your group are some of those silly newbies who believe in the “zerker meta”, prepare to pick them off the ground after every encounter. It’s happened to me a lot in the past, and I’ve learned to bring some support-build characters to try and compensate for their useless butts.
Having a holy trinity would not help at all. Not only would it multiply the time it takes to find a dungeon group by a million, but it also wouldn’t make people play together any more than it currently does, on the contrary.
In Guild Wars 2, when someone is downed, it’s their mistake. And if they have nice group members, they can get revived by anyone nearby (hopefully not another berserker — one downed is enough).
The holy trinity subtly changes the situation around. When someone is downed, it’s suddenly someone else’s fault. The healer died? Tank did a poor job. The tank died? Healer did a poor job. A damage dealer died? Everyone did a poor job. It turns into a blame game, and it turns the community against itself.
Long story short, don’t delude yourself into thinking that your old holy trinity is good, let alone better than what we’ve got.
