I need to do dailys and monthlies, without skipping a single one, for 16 months in order to get two for each of my characters.

Doesn’t that seem just a LITTLE excessive?

Yes. Why do you need so many earrings? They’re not that much stronger than exotics, you don’t need them for EVERY character, and I’m pretty sure you can get them through Guild Commendations and Fractal Relics too anyway.

Apparently you can get them form Guild Missions too, BUT they will take approximately the same amount of time…

They really need to back off the laurel/time limited currency.

Even if I only wanted two, it still takes two months of NEVER MISSING A SINGLE DAILY with zero way for me to speed it up (since my guild is small and thus unable to do the missions because they are idiotic to unlock, and even then you have to fight the RNG for the rings).

Ascended accessories can also be purchased for 5g and 12 guild commendations. For comparison, the laurel version is 18.5g (50 ectos) and 40 laurels.

Wait, where can you buy these? And guild commendations?

Edit: Oh, I see, you don’t need to fight the RNG. Interesting. In any case, you still need to do an absurd number of guild missions which smaller guilds like mine litteraly cannot hope to start or finish.

It takes 1 week for the one time unlock, and 1 week to get the tokens for 1 piece, so it’s roughly 2-3 pieces per month. It doesn’t even go close the op’s 16 months.

And… if you were able to get all the stuff on all your chars in just 2 weeks. Then you’d complain you have nothing to do…
Bah

Unless you can’t get the guild ones because your guild doesn’t zerg WvW 28 hours a day.

Doesn’t that seem just a LITTLE excessive?

I have 11 characters total and all the professions at 80 except necro and engi. The addition of vertical progression has put a definite damper on my enjoyment of alts. It doesn’t take a lot of intellectual horsepower to realize you won’t be able to move all of them along the power curve. GW2 has become a game where one main and zero alts is really the only character composition that is feasible. While I have enjoyed playing my characters, I truly feel like my purchase of the additional slots was a waste of money.

Why the heck they added 50 ectos to 40 laurels? Where is the point in that? Ectos there, ectos here, ectos everywhere. Well it isnt an absurd value like for back capacitator (250 lol for what?). Absurd grind updates and patches. Do daily this, do monthly this, do laurels, do weekly guild missions, do daily fractal, do daily blabla.. Welcome to the Grind Wars 2.

It only takes 2 weeks doing guild missions. Not sure why they are so expensive on the laurel vendor, but they are easy to get from guild missions.

Devs already stated they are much easier to obtain by doing guild missions.
That is the longer alternative that requires zero guild missions.

If a large number of new players start to see this, Anet will see a drop off in character slot purchases (read: real money income) and promptly change things to resolve that. So there is hope.
