Can’t even mention them all. We probably use less than 50% of the current runes/sigils out there. TP prices prove my point. It feels like playing Dota 2 a broken patch where only 50 heroes are constantly being favored and picked and used out of 100 and more available.

Why not buff them? All these runes and sigils have so much potential that could add plenty of diversity into the game that will affect both pvp and pve beautifully.

Thanks

Sell the minor ones. Save the major ones for mystic forging or sell them for a few silver.

Save superior ones for selling (either on the post or to NPC vendors) or use them.

That being said, certain ones could be changed to make them more worthwhile. But that would probably need a post/thread all to itself.

Yes it is bad.

One time I was drinking milk, and looking up runes on the wiki. I came across Rune of the Golemancer and read, in detail, the wiki page. It made me choke up my milk and pass out.

I’m lying about that scenario. But yes, many kittenty runes/sigils still in the game.

I think we need 4 extra sigil slots on our weaponsets.
Or 6 extra rune slots on our trinkets. Or both xD

Just for the stinky sigils and runes. The extra slots would say “you can ONLY slot stinky sigils and runes here”. lol

I wish we had a better system for Runes. Think of all the possibilities:

25 Power
10% Might Duration
50 Toughness
15% Might Duration, +25% when struck to gain Might for 5seconds (Strength 4/6)
100 Vitality
125 Precision, +20% Swiftness Duration (Pack 6/6)

I mean I don’t know what a rune set like this would ever be used for (stats are scattered everywhere) but it at least allows us to build more freely.

Nearly all runes have collapsed to near vendor pricing, they are simply too easy to get as a side effect of salvaging.

Now the collective belief of the player base is that only those upgrades that serve the current meta builds are useful. Same thing can be said with certain traits in specializations or stat prefixes. Most players rather copy a known “good” build than experiment to find the next one. At least when ANet does a balance pass it shakes up the metas a bit.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

I really liked it when we could mix and match rune sets better. That was awhile ago. I do think they should rework a bunch of runes. People are always going to figure out what’s the meta, but I like it when anet shakes up the pot a bit and people have to adapt. It would be boring if everything always stayed the same.

I think wooden potatoes made the best suggestion.
Remove stats completely from runes… Leave the 3 peice bonuses and make them 3/3 sets. You’ll see a much larger selection of rune diversity in the game. I know there are plenty of runes with bonuses I’d like, but I don’t use because the state it gives is something like vitality… I think being able to have 2 rune sets would be enough for the balance of loss stats (considering you could potentially have 20% increased dmg)

The problem is there are some runes that are so much more powerful defensively to the point they are barred in PvP:
*Rune Durability
*Rune of Mercy

Also boon duration would be 1% per 15 concentration so many of those +20% boon duration runes would be +300 concentration (compared to a +175 main stat boost on most runes).

The same goes for increased condition duration on every condition, which is 15 points of expertise.

All the runes less than 5 silver should be looked at for minor changes really for example:

= Random mob summoning runes=

  • Superior Rune of the Flock … ditch the bird completely?
  • Superior Rune of the Privateer , add something to rune’s 6th effect instead of a parrot (make the parrot appear as a mini perhaps for novelty)
  • Superior Rune of the Lich , add something to the rune 6th effect instead of a jagged horror
  • Superior Rune of the Golemancer , add something to the 6th effect besides a random golem

== Tyrian Gods=

  • Superior Rune of Balthazar , change to “healing or shout skill” for the burning — making it applicable for Berserkers, burn Guardians , Rangers, Tempest, and Reapers (maybe if a condi tempest comes around too)
  • Superior Rune of Dwayna , change to “healing or shout skill” for regen , increase cooldown to 15-20 seconds (druid/tempest/guardian)
  • Superior Rune of Grenth , change to “healing or shout skill” for the chill — making it applicable for Berserkers, burn Guardians , Rangers, and Reapers (maybe if a condi tempest comes around too)
  • Superior Rune of Lyssa… not sure how to fix this? +5% Condition Duration to an added +10% or +15% slow/torment/taunt duration would be a start
  • Superior Rune of Melandru , add -30% incoming immobilize duration , this was run heavily before Durability came

=Etc=

  • Rune of the Centaur , add -30% chill /immob incoming duration on top of the -50% Incoming Cripple Duration
  • Superior Rune of Svanir , add -30% incoming cripple duration on top of the -50% Incoming chill duration
  • Rune of the Brawler , add “or elite skill” to bonus (6)
  • Superior Rune of the Rata Sum , make it reduce incoming weakness duration (although precision and conditions are often not used together to great extents) or increase outgoing vulnerability duration
  • Superior Rune of the Air , ditch bonus (4) swiftness on heal for something offense-oriented such as shocking aura and/or +15% outgoing vulnerability duration
  • Superior Rune of the Earth , add something like -20% incoming bleeding duration and lower cooldown to 45 or 60 seconds on the magnetic aura
  • Superior Rune of the Ice , add -20% incoming chill duration this just needs an outlet such as a Mystic forge recipe since it is a crafted rune with oversupply
  • Superior Rune of the Adventurer, add something to the 6th effect such as “when you use a healing or elite skill you gain 10 seconds of vigor and 50% endurance” …this is a crafted rune so a Mystic forge recipe might be useful to deal with oversupply
  • Superior Rune of the Undead … a crafted rune with oversupply needs a Mystic Forge recipe or something
  • Superior Rune of the Krait … this is crafted so a Mystic Forge recipe could be added
  • Superior Rune of the Afflicted … heavily oversupplied , +5% or +10% bleed damage would help maybe
  • Superior Rune of the Necromancer , isn’t terrible but perhaps +10% poison duration or +10% torment duration would help given that fear isn’t a common thing to apply constantly?
  • Superior Rune of the Sunless … mainly an oversupply issue
  • Superior Rune of Scavenging … lots of oversupply and mediocre stats
  • Superior Rune of Rage, add Might to the Fury from Bonus 4
  • Superior Rune of the Grove , perhaps some vitality instead of +10% protection duration for bonus 2, it has a scribe recipe so it is just oversupply
  • Superior Rune of the Dolyak … this once costed about 1 gold but Durability rune is strong
Desolation (EU) → Yak’s Bend (US)

His suggestion is definitely the one I like the best, but it would be a major overhaul that would necessitate a fair amount of development time, which means I doubt we would see it until the next expansion hits.

As to 2 sets of runes though, I would prefer it if one set was reserved for “stat” runes, whose 3 set bonuses only applied stats, and the other one was for “effect” runes. That way you could customize which stats you wanted to go with which effects, as well as avoid the OP ability to slot in 2 complete sets of “effect” runes.

I really just want to see the 3/3 rune thing. It would make me feel better about using stuff like Traveler’s Runes.

Hey, golemancer runes are great! Three or four years ago, I used them for a while when I got my first CoE berserker set and they were a blast. I’ve never, ever seen a better troll than that lovely golem. All mobs grouped up nicely somewhere? BAM! Whirlwind knockback! That was hilarious.
