So from skimming through the meet the druid, i noticed there was a very large amount of healing and that we was promised that we wouldn’t have dedicated healers (or atleast make it equal for all classes) and it seems like that is what the druid is directly, so has Anet changed its stance on this and the “play how you want” (with new content that will probably HAVE to have healers/support classes to complete)?

I would say nothing has changed. Druids can still deal some decent amount of damage while tossing heals out by damaging.

Just like a warrior can toss out damage and provide might to the party.

I think it will just be som tweaking on how to tackle the new content, maybe trait that extra support healing to overcome something.

So nothing new, at least for me that is – i’m going shout heals on mai trin usually to make sure we don’t wipe, none tells me to, just doing it.

Yes you will not be able to run a full zerker party in some of HoT. My tear cup is ready for all the QQ.

I don’t understand why you think this is different from the current game. Some people already play with healing elementalists (see: WvW zerg play), healineers, and support-heavy guardians (other classes can also do this, just not necessarily as effectively).

so has Anet changed its stance on this and the “play how you want” (with new content that will probably HAVE to have healers/support classes to complete)?

The game was always structured for a combination of damage, support, and control. In the past, that has mostly meant a focus on damage, including support focused on increasing damage — this is because quicker fights are not only more efficient, they are also less risky.

What’s changed is the balance that will be required to tackle the new content. And until we actually play the new content, it’s hard to say if this means a huge change or just ANet thinking there will be a huge change.

Nobody promised no healers. Even ANet stated months ago that it wasn’t their intent to eliminate the traditional trinity by giving every profession a bit of everything. But they wanted a more action based combat which precludes a traditional planted tank with healers keeping him upright.

Now it sounds like HoT raids and boss events go out of their way to show the zerk meta the error of their ways. However to keep the upgrade usable, a profession that can, via combat, toss off healing left and right is now available. They will also make those vitality and healing buff upgrades useful.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

I’m thrilled. I feel most comfortable as healing/support. I play healing elementalist, support guardian but my first character was a ranger and it will be nice to do content with her again.
