Wife and I have completed the first Living Story achievement and spoken to all heralds and refugee NPCs.

Now what? Event info has been very vague. A next step would be nice, or even a hint of a next step.

Posting here again.

Seriously, I know the Dev talk said “not today, not tomorrow, maybe not even the next day” but a new event would be nice. I’m already no longer interested in the Living Story based on timing alone. A 30-minutes-of-effort title doesn’t take a week.

Again I ask: Now what? Should we not expect anything this week either?

It’s a living story… it unfolds while you play the game on its own timeline… go do other stuff and revisit it. If you’ve paid any attention at all to what they’ve said about it, you would know that they aren’t going to give you a roadmap… most of it is supposed to be based on self discovery. If you try to treat it like an event you need to consume immediately… you are going to be left with a lot of downtime waiting for the next step… and that is NOT how they want you to approach it.

Reality and Game are far different, this living story falls short in my opinion because games are not reality no matter what people like to believe..

I was also disappointed in this “living Story” you randomly construct signage and help wooden refugee NPCs, loot corpse for their valuables and then …nothing an achievement and a karma token, no information on why they fled no news on what happened to them…very limited in scope for a living story imo..

I kinda expected a lot more.. especially after so many events fell short and caused so much issues with GW2 in the past..

no news on what happened to them…

If you talk to a few NPC’s, some of them say that the land was rumbling, that’s why they needed to leave.

There’s also DE’s in Dissea Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills where fissures pop up, causing freak weather, and you need to block them.

Yeah if that’s enough for you awesome for me that’s pretty limited, for a living world scenario, personally i’d actually talk to these NPCs…i even went searching and nothings changed..

Also everyone fleeing because of a few air vents popped up and the earth shakes? come on…. if the elder dragons didn’t worry them and the monsters, Destroyers, Flame Legion, Icebrood…a little earth shakes and they all flee.

Need more info or i stop caring honestly..

Because we’re not going to find out as the story progresses, right?

Also:

“Charr and norn refugees crawl from the wreckage of their homes in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, struggling to find shelter in the south.”

That’s why they’re fleeing. They’ve lost their homes.

I guess limited Events and limited info appeals to some, after i got the achievement i just went back LA like i always do, a bit depressed to be honest..

Use your imagination. Settlers are being run out of the homes, you really think they are all going to collectively organize so they can all make the trip together? No, it will be a stream of stragglers escaping whatever horrors they’ve seen. Between the trauma of the survivors and the need for assistance to be provided, it could be a while before a clear picture of what has taken place is realized and a plan of action set upon.

What horrors? what have they seen…better why can’t we ask them?

I think it’s more to do with patience.

Some people want all of the story there and then so they can go through it all, while some people don’t mind the waiting and seeing how it plays out.

Lately, I’ve been doing my Dailies in these areas so I can see if anything happens.

For example, when you done the personal story, did you know straight away you’d need to destroy the Eye of Zhaitan?

You had limited info then, and you gathered more over time.

This story is no different.

This. The new events are so sloppily thrown together, then completely hyped up by devs.

I find it hilarious what terrible gameplay mechanics they consider ‘fun and engaging’. Rebuilding road signs? Yep, thats heroism right there.

How about spawning refugees at the edge of the map, have them run to a certain point chased by a spawn of new creature types? Stuff thats like new you know? with fail criterias to give rescue events a sense of urgency?

How do you know this won’t be in as the story progresses?

Refugees have left their home because their homes have been turned to rubble and there’s freak weather, presumably stopping them from rebuilding.

It’s called ‘building up’.

Because if what I described is going to happen later, its already too late. Can you honestly say what this ‘prelude’ event is fun? It was menial, and I’m not the only one here who thinks so.

How so?

Currently, what is happening now is happening.

Suddenly, these creatures burst from the ground, making the evacuation much more urgent.

Can you honestly say what this ‘prelude’ event is fun? It was menial, and I’m not the only one here who thinks so.

I think it sets the scene:

  • We know the refugees have left because they’ve lost their homes.
  • We know that there’s freak weather occurring (according to one Norn, it’s because of the atmosphere, or something like that), and that fissures are popping all out of the ground.

As the story progresses:

  • We’ll find out what’s causing it.
  • We’re bound to fight new foes.

Not everything has to be rush and fight right from the get go. After all, it’s a ‘prelude’.

The story ends with a dragon that resurfaced, the thing that caused all this trouble.

They said that the first event will be up for a few months so that all could have a chance to participate and then more serious week long events that change the world will start popping up (hence the “prologue”)

The story ends with a dragon that resurfaced, the thing that caused all this trouble.

They said that there will be no dragons, but dude, I hope that they’re lying and you’re right. That would be awesome!
