Hello

I saw in the patch notes that salvaging fine/masterwork will have a chance to give an temporary MF buff. Does that mean rares will have no chance on giving an MF buff? hm

Blues and greens don’t give ectos. This gives them some use beyond selling them at a loss on the TP or vendoring them.

Ok so I guess rare/greens are going to sky rocket in price.. Because I will be buying up thousands of greens/blues. But anyways still doesn’t make any sense to me that rares wont give any MF buff chance even if its the same as blue/greens chance for it.

The thousands of blues and greens no one sells on the trading post because it’s simply not worth the effort? Good luck. People already salvage rares. There’s no point in Anet giving people a reason to salvage rares. They’re giving people a reason to salvage blues and greens cause no one bothers right now. They’re basically junk you sell to a vender so you can make room for rares, and stuff you actually want.

Something tells me that will be a fairly wasteful venture – I’m assuming if you need temporary magic find buffs from salvaging that you are already doing an activity that produces plenty of greens and blues to salvage without spending additional gold on the TP…

Temporary?

That’s not how I interpreted the “Super Adventure Box Returns” press release.

If the Essences of Luck you can get from salvaging Fine or Masterwork items really do only give temporary MF boost, it would be good to have that clarified.

How do you buy thousands of blues and greens, by the way? I don’t believe they stack (… or do they??!)

Why the hell would they? They’re already so common you can’t give them away as it is.
And the market will NEVER be unsaturated by them, not when they’re the only thing that most people crafting for the first time know they can make. Even level 65 and lower Rares are starting to get saturated come to think of it… you can find some of the cruddiest ones listed for around ~4silv now…

I wonder… Will Essences of Luck be salvageable only from level 68+ blues/greens like how only level 68+ Rares/Exos give Ectos?

I salvage blues and greens. I’ve actually gotten lots of orichalcum, hardened leather, and ancient wood from them. Now you know the secret.

Almost the same here.
I only salvage the blues though. Greens are either sold or forged. The confirmation dialog for greens makes mass salvaging annoying.

I always salvage whites, and blues sometimes if I need the materials for that Tier from them. (I always check the TP before salvaging though. For some reason some people place buy orders for level 78 – 80 Blues at nearly triple their vendor price. I’ve yet to figure out why this is so.)

Greens I always merch since the guaranteed 1.5 – 2 silver I get from them is usually worth more than the mats I could get from them. No idea whether I will continue this trend once Essences of Luck are introduced. I’ll have to wait and see.

You can have thousands sitting at the TP waiting to be picked up (well, I assume thousands, I’ve certainly had 50+ there).

Then you hit “collect all”, it fills your inventory, you salvage them, then hit “collect all” again. Rinse and repeat.
