With today’s announcement about the new precursor crafting info and legendary “journey” it seems like map exploration will be a big part of that. I already have 3 legendaries (incinerator, bolt, sunrise) and am working on twilight now. I was wondering if I would be better off waiting to complete my map exploration since it seems like we will be doing a lot of that anyways.

Also maybe I misread it, i saw it said u get some bonus mats for some events and jumping puzzles, did it say for 100% map of a zone (besides starting areas) too.

i took it to mean that they will reward events and jps etc with chests like they did in dry top/SW more than exploring the zone

Yeah, I agree with Gobble. The post made it sound like the bonus rewards will be given for doing events and other such things and not necessarily for map completion.

Since the rewards rotate, I would guess it is not predicated on Map Completion, as you could only do that with one character/map.

Hard as it is to imagine, some players only have 1 or 2 characters. If the rewards rotate more than 5 times, it would seem necessary to buy character slots, and I don’t think they are going for that.

(There probably won’t be that many rotations, but you get the idea, anyway.)

Also, some maps don’t even have a Map Completion-type reward mechanic now, and they were mentioned in the article.

@ chrono, well I don’t know about you but I will be making a Revenant in HOT and prob first thing to get done will be world complete, gotta have that star! so if there are any new rewards tied to it then that will be a bonus, if not then no problem cos I want to get it done anyway.

Yeah that’s kind of what I figured. Additional rewards like t6 and ectos and stuff. But my point is we do a lot of that anyways while map exploring… so do you guys think it would be better to wait and get the extra loot normally vs doing 100% map completion on several characters now then going back and having to redo events, jp etc for the collectable items? I get redoing an event isn’t hard… just seems like maybe if there are a lot of events and random quests to do you might be going all over the place anyways (again)

I think ‘going all over the place again’ is the point. Making the maps rewarding for multiple visits. Keeping content viable. =)

They mentioned in the past that some tasks necessary for certain masteries that players have already completed would be awarded automatically. So if certain mini dungeons or jumping puzzles are necessary, we might see those rewards upon logging in.

The map rewards they mentioned seem more like dry top and silverwastes, where you’re getting rewards every so often for completing events. I don’t think the rotating rewards will be tied to map completion, as they’re meant to keep players coming back.
