Just a little background info before I rant. I started playing this game on the headstart, got a ranger to 55 and an ele to 65 before I quit playing. I’d say I logged about 150 hours in the first month the game was released, but then for some reason it just lost it’s magic. Anyway I started playing my ele again about 3 days ago and have been having a blast so far. I’m already 75 pretty close to 76, so I start getting excited about getting my awesome exotic sets. So I go look at the vendors, and I already knew before I quit that it took quite a lot of tokens to get a set, which is fine. So I find the stats I want, which is the AC set (of course.)

And here is my dilemma. The light armor AC set looks downright horrible. There is no other way to put it, it literally looks like a set of starter gear. So then I realize I would need to grind AC for hundreds of tokens to get the stats I want, and then grind CoF for hundreds of tokens to get the look I want. Is this really an “end game re-imagined?” Because it seems to me that this game has far more of a grind than the hated WoW, even without the gear treadmill.

Which brings me to my next point. I expected the population to have dropped, as it does with all MMOs, but most zones I’ve been through are completely dead. From what I can tell my server is still quite populated (Sorrow’s Furnace) considering last time I checked our WvWvW stats we were at 350,000 and the next highest was 30,000. Anyway the zones were littered with dead npcs and contested waypoints. Why? Everyone is busy grinding dungeons, just like in every other MMO ever.

I really feel like the entire system needs a rework from the ground up. Why not make each dungeon drop a universal token that we can take to any vendor for the look we want, and then let us pick the 3 stats we would like on it? Give us a chance to get out of these dungeons and explore the world you made Anet.

So everybody will run one easiest dungeon time and time again?
No thanks.

It is already too much cof. I’d prefer more attention to balance of different exp paths. Because now there’re “easymode” paths that everyone run and “hardcore\bugged” ones that are being ignored completely.

not a universal token probably by design, everyone would run the quickest (may not be easiest), path / dungeon, to get the tokens.

but i also wonder why they decided to have certain stats with certain gear, and not like in gw:nf (nightfall) where you only buy the look and base stats (just the armor level) and you put your own insignia in it ( for gw2 it’d be knights, clerics, explorerers, etc), aswell as rune like you do now.

maybe have each npc vendor also sell these insignias, 30 tokens each or something idk

An easy solution to that would just be have a limit on how many tokens you can get from a specific dungeon path each day. This would actually probably get people to run those paths that nobody ever runs. I mean are you guys happy with the current system? If so I guess I’ll just shut up and color, but to me it seems like an extremely bad system.

Personally I think it would work, and with the DR system in place I don’t think everyone would do only the easiest. They will at first but as soon as they hit that cap they’ll go on to the next.

The DR would still be per dungeon but a universal token would still be given at max if you went to another dungeon.

So op, what armor stats do you want? I’m sure ac isn’t the only place where you can get whatever stats you are looking for. And whatever stats the AC armor gives Im 100% you can find it on cof armor if you keep scrolling down the dungeon vendor list.

No for universal tokens ever. Arah is now considered as hardest dungeon, therefor not everyone has this set and thats what makes him unique. You want specific dungeon armor look? Run that dungeon

I have 1100 hours played now, done explorable dungeons about 200 times, 2x full TA set, 2x full AC set, 1 full Arah set and more. I dont see any reason to change dungeon system. It works as it is.

Do what GW1 did – create inscriptions that would hold the weapon/armor stat part. So, you would be able to do dungeons for level 80 exotic armor, and then get level 80 exotic inscriptions with the stat set you want to put them in. You might leave the current stats as they are, but they’d be more easily replaceable.

Actions, not words.
