The survivor monthly is not broken. You just have to not die for the amount of exp needed.
I vaguely remember someone saying the counter resets if you log out or get kicked offline. I don’t know if it’s true or not… my personal view about the monthly is, if it happens, great, if not, no big deal…
It was, and still is, broken. It resets whenever the Map Loading screen comes up. This means you may not log off, change zones, or even use a Waypoint that takes you too far within the same zone.
The achievement can still be gotten relatively easily once you’re high enough level (L35+ areas help here), but it’s definitely not just “don’t die”.
This is the second month I’ve been jyped out of because Arenanet gave us 5 days to do a month worth of stuff, and then left a bug in for an entire month.
I can say that I’ve given Anet enough time to get their kitten together, and clearly they have not.
+1 to this is absolute charrs**t. Busted my kitten for this and then got screwed out at that last second because I didn’t think anyone would be dumb enough to reset monthlies while the server time is still the previous month.
In fairness, ArenaNet definitely posted that daily and monthly achievements reset at GMT midnight. Also, the daily achievements have been resetting at that time all month. It’s your own kitten fault for not finishing everything in time.

5 PM Pacific (server time) is the start of the new day/month. It’s not a day early, UTC is a few hours ahead of the US. Europe gets to celebrate New Years’ before we do.
It’s not surprising, most US citizens wouldn’t even be able to find Europe on a map of the world… with labels or without.
Daily and Monthly achievements — they reset back to zero at the start of each day and month respectively, at midnight UTC (4:00 PM PST/5:00 PM PDT). Aside from Arenanet points, these gain you coins, experience and Mystic Coins upon completion of whole category. There are no titles related to daily or monthly achievements.

No where does it say that for half of the world the monthly resets a day early.

Sorry to interrupt but…
technically it didn’t. People just count “today” as the 24 hour period. People just started saying “a day early” when in fact it was technically hours before or into the next day unless you sit on midnight UTC. People love rounding up or down to suit their needs. Though It also gives time zones which you could easily find out what timezone you were in and calculate it when it changed for you personally.
to all those guys complaining about the survivor monthly being broken:
it isnt. i got it yesterday within 5minutes of the reset… yes, the complete one. no, no crafting involved. yes, i was in wvw, yes i killed loads of people whilst hitting them with various siege weapons… yes, i also got defender exp twice… what’s the problem?
i’m also pretty sure i will get the rest of the monthly done today. i’d actually prefer it to be a weekly, its just far too easy to get all of these. i got the ones for august & september each in about 3 days… :-/
and also: yes, i do have a full-time job and a social life…

Welcome America to the world. The timezone is set to Greenwich time which for a global product makes sense. If it was linked to the local time then your buddy from the west coast could not play with you on the east coast (of the USA) or the times would be wrong again.
I am sure OP will eventually get over it, you only have yourself to blame and now you know and you learned something.

Its not like you are missing much, the rewards for monthly are meh at best. Just start working on this months and don’t wait until the last minute to finikitten.
Should always try completing them before the final day.
As for the monthly survivor, if you are lucky, you kind of do it in WvWvW if you have a zerg group going. I got mine like that and I didn’t even realise at the time that the monthly achievements had reset until some icon popped up on the screen.

Pretty lackluster. I purposely finished on a low-be alt to see if the XP would be nice…yeah, bad move. Like 200 xp and 17 copper wooo…

I can understand that the filter ignores spaces to keep people from getting around it, but it’s a little TOO restrictive when combinations of innocent words are triggering it, destroying the meaning of a sentence.
