Am I the only one that gets the idea that they are thinking about adding mounts of some sort? I know Anet has stated that they would never add mounts but it seems weird to have riding clothes if we’ve nothing to ride, except perhaps the flying broom.

There was a loooong post a while back with people speculating about mounts because of the frost and flame concept art. Gaile came in an with no uncertainty squashed the idea. There arent mounts, they arent considering mounts, there will never be mounts. Especially ponies (for those that remember the thread I am talking about).

I think these town clothes are just an amazing way of Anet giving us something neat…while screwing with A LOT of people.

Wrong.

They said they are not going to be implementing mounts during the Frost and Flame story arc.

It won’t let me quote it directly, so here’s the link:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Incoming-Mounts/first#post1265016

Says:

Hello, I’m here to crush your dreams.
There will be no mounts coming with the Flame and Frost story arc.
Also, to address further speculation we’ve seen about the concept art for Flame and Frost (and what it may portend): there will be no Cantha and no dragons coming with the Flame and Frost story arc, either.
Thank you.

I dont think we will see mounts either. It isn’t really needed with the port system.
And frankly it is one less thing we need to see in the crowded cities that already take 30 minutes to load.

Don’t believe a word of it either way- personally I think mounts will appear when they have squeezed all they can from people who buy deco rubbish, so around this time next year.

I highly doubt actual mounts would be implamented since it’d destroy the whole waypoint system if they actually gave speed boost.

But I’d say it’s a safe bet they might add mounts in the unconventional sense like the witch broom, through “toys”.

It’d be a one two dirty punch if they did, I hate town clothes for how useless it is since you can’t wear it for the majority of the gameplay (combat) but it’d be a balanced way to introduce them wouldn’t it?

They will add cosmetic mounts. I am willing to bet on it. If they add something cool and not goofy, I might even get it for the RP factor.

However… add the darn capes ANet. Capes. Not hoodies. C. A. P. E. S. Long ones, too, not those short allmost-capes. Big, flowing, cloth simulates capes that can get you sucked into an asura aetheric jet intake just like that!

Was waiting for this thread the moment I saw “riding” in some item’s names.

I don’t see the need for mounts with so many wps everywhere.
If they do implement mounts they should be another gold sink.
Mounts don’t give any speed buffs, and can’t attack
Mounts consume “grass”, 50 grass per hour (even while logged off)
100 grass is 1 gold.
Have fun with your mount!

I agree that the game does not need mounts. It doesn’t fit with the game and with the WP’s, doesn’t make sense. It would look ridiculous for people to be running around LA on mounts.

If they ever add any type of mount, yes it should not give any speed buff, should be pure cosmetic but the idea of food is good!

If the mount had to eat food, maybe those of us could cook more variety of foods that would actually sell for more than 1c. Cooking only omnomberry bars and the occasional ice cream or pie is very boring for such a well thought out and detailed craft.

I think we need mounts that give us 300% run speed, and a big red “InstaGIB” button that replaces the #1 skill, with 0sec casting and refresh time, that works on everyone, everywhere.

Then I would ride it in Lion’s Arch, mauling all the mount haters.

Oh, and it should be really big, like an elephant, it should prevent people from passing through it, and it should be garishly pink with rainbow bow ties around its feet.
Skills #2 – #5 would be for bells on it, which you could use to play music, only each note would be chosen at random from a pool of Terrible Sounds.

Utilities could be stuff like “Pink Elephant Dancing on Your Corpse” or “The Musical Impaler”, and a special utility for those hardcore mount haters which would turn them into a mount, replace their movement controls with neighing sounds and enable other players to ride them around.

I enjoy playing GW2. But, I MISS my mounts. I love looking at them. I love riding them. I love seeing other people riding them. I just miss them. Still, after all these months. I have tried to not miss them, but I do. I even miss seeing mount vendors with all the different colored ponies, birds, camels, whatever, for sale.

I understand on a technical level that I don’t NEED one, as I have waypoints. But on an emotional / enjoyment / immersion level they are dearly missed.

So, yes, I think putting a riding costume in the gem store is throwing it in my face. It is ME doing /facedesk. Colin is probably laughing.

It is rather funny that they added riding gear in a game that has NO mounts, let alone horses we can ride. Such teases! xD

I can’t say there isn’t a part of me that would really like to have a horse for my character though. The only other MMO’s I’ve played have had either horsebirds or boring speeders as mounts, and I love horses! But since we don’t really need mounts, it’d be fun to have them as mostly cosmetic items — something like a cross between a minipet and a mount, I guess. I like the idea of feeding them!
