needs to be explained more… atleast have it in bold red if you already have one

I bought the same ascended ring because well i didnt want the defensive one. Come to find out theres something called Unique on these items. The “Official” Wiki doesnt say anything about this when you look at the description for Ascended. how the hell was i supposed to know Unique meant i couldnt equip 2 of the same items? this was never explained… so now im assed out 10 pristine tokens ._.

only way you could find out is to wiki unique, which i didnt because ive seen it only on ascended items… thought it was just there because it was ascended… so it was unique…

ArenaNet likes to punish players by being vague, even misleading, with some of the game mechanics. Ever play ‘Gather Roulette’ with a Master Mining Pick? The description reads, “More efficient at gathering resources and uncovering rare components”. Too bad they don’t bother to mention that it will only work up to a certain level of node, and there’s no way to tell what that is until you ruin a gather with it. Hopefully, it won’t have been Ori.

It would have been too obvious if it was written “Can only equip once” instead of the misleading “Unique” you can barely see.

The term “Unique” would be kind of confusing for those who have never played other MMOs before, or those who came from GW1 in which Unique had a different definition. In GW1, Unique was an actual rarity like how in GW2 we have Exotics, Rares, Masterworks, and so on.

In GW2, Unique is like how it is in other MMOs which you only can equip one of that same name (eg. You can’t equip two Red Ring of Deaths; but you can equip 1 Red Ring of Death and 1 Crystalline Band, both have the same stats but different infusion slot).

Sure one could use Google to figure it out, but having the player to rely heavily on Google on playing the game (unless core designs are specifically designed for it) is just bad design.

Why are they unique? At least i can have 1 offensive 1 defensive? Having two different stat rings would ruin my spec =/

Yeah, they should somehow make it more clear…

That said, there are two copies of every ring, usually with related names. Lunaria and Solaria are a good example.

Customer service might be able to help you if/since the “Unique” attribute isn’t documented.

I’m not trolling. If you have “Red Ring of Death” and “Red Ring of Death (Infused)”, they count as separate rings and can be equipped at the same time AFAIK.

Another UI improvement sorely needed to be sure. On that same note, jewelry as a whole needs to be better defined. It is a kittening nightmare searching for a particular type of jewelry over the trader when they are all classified under as ..uhg what as it.. trinket? If there is an easier way to separate them, I am all ears. Also, what’s the deal with not having a “back” option for searching back items?

Every game has its own terminology and shorthand, and while there is some need for the game developers to explain it, it has always been important for the user to be cognizant of these things before making irreversible decisions. For me, the responsibility of being aware is on you, and while your plight is unfortunate, the number one person to blame is yourself.

As an aside, noother.2190 is correct. The (Infused) and uninfused variants count as separate items and can be equipped together.

Wow, I didn’t even notice they had Unique items in this game. That’s one mechanic I despised in WoW that I hoped would never be adopted by this game. Shame about that.

Hope more players see this since that may be something they will miss!

well fully infused a one of the rings. so… back to (“no”) grinding more pristine relics

This is a problem in every part of the game. The tool tips are all terrible. The vast majority of skill tool tips don’t give numbers and don’t even describe how something works. I feel like I play Google Wars 2 sometimes.
