I’m gutted with rubbish artwork like the moot, and bows that shoot unicorns WTF Anet. I been playing GW1 for 6 years and the weapon art and armors were on the most part great then GW2 comes out and you make a mace with a disco ball and a bow that shoots rainbows and unicorns WTF. That’s things that belong in games like WOW or that other game I forget whakittens called, the new one with the rabit race etc. Don’t put such ridiculous skins in such a good game. novelty gear from the gem store is one thing but end game legendary skins that are straight out of a kids cartoon? really? sort it out fast. Get your gw1 artists back because 70% of the armor and weapon art is rubbish. Look at games like gw1,aion and they have a very cool art direction. as it stands gw2 is moving backwards in its art concepts.

Ps all other art in game is amazing and that’s why unicorn bows ruin it.

Legendary weapons aren’t mandatory – you don’t have to get them. Get a different skin if you prefer that one. The “cool” ones are overrated, anyways.

My bow shoots rainbow unicorns and I love it. There will always be something that people love and people hate. What legendary do you have yakuza? You can always go for what is popular because it looks “cool” (twilight). I just went with dreamer because I got sick of seeing 1 in 3 people with twilight but each his own. So dont complain about it just dont get it (or complain about not being able to turn of effects). you guys arent the only ppl playing the game gl and hf

I think Anet should have foreseen this type of backlash and did something similar to twighlight/sunrise

Dreamer/Nightmare
Quip/Deringer
Kudzu/Bramble
Same general model, just darker versions

Nightmare being fiery hell unicorns
Bramble being a dead thorny bloody version of Kudzu with a skeleton holding a spear
Deringer a gold and black pistol that drips blood from the barrel, instead of confetti there is a ton of black smoke that pours out.

To be completely honest… I am not a fan of any of the legendary skins. Aesthetically I find them gaudy and over done and would much prefer something with a cleaner and elegant design. That being said, what I would like for Anet to provide is a complete new set of legendary’s for those of us who have different tastes in what we feel a weapon should look like. As the current crop of designs all remind me of children’s toys, or something to spread mayo on a sandwich (the GS’s). This way those that prefer the childish designs can have what they want, and those of us with a more refined sense of taste can use what we would like.

Funny OP.

As far as the bow goes, I personally think it’s great. Besides, its not like this is the last of the legendary weapons, pretty sure more will make an appearance down the road.

The bow itself to me is one of the better looking bows, would like it better without the tassels, but hey, it is what it is. Seems like people usually talk about its effects though, the pony arrows.

In GW, I think I pretty much only used 3 bow skins (had a collection of most of them for my 2 rangers though). The crescent moon bow, the shadow bow, and the ivory bow, maybe 1 more with the grinning recurve. These bows have shapes that appeal to me. In GW2, I’m finding the same issue with not having many bow skins that I like.

Most have a weird arc in the structure or a hook at the ends that just look weird to me. They don’t flow. They don’t look good in my hands or on my back. Short bows are they worst. There is an Ivory bow lookalike here though. The Guild comm longbow has a nice design, wish the short bow was its look alike.

I do however agree that each of the current weapons should have a double like Twilight/Sunrise. Makes no sense that greatswords get the better treatment in this game while others get none.

1. Some do fit, the flameseeker prophecies, for example.
2. The bitfrost is the bridge to valhalla in norse legends, so it would fit there.
3. Well, lots of people do know the legendaries by name and can identify them right away, plus someone using them is very noticeable from afar because of the effects (like the flying ponies when they fire the dreamer), so I’d say they do fit being very famous and notorious..

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,

And some of them do have some mythology related to them…. The Bifrost from Norse mythology. The Flameseeker Prophecies from GW1 (in-game legend). Rodgort also from GW1. Kamohoali’i Kotaki from Hawaiian mythology.

In-game lore makes sense and that is what I think he means, I could be wrong. Real world lore, well…I think every item relates to something in the real world. Could be pop culture, could be legends, could be fairytales.

Legendary imo should have some in game lore behind them. Who wielded this weapon? What feat was accomplished with this weapon? This weapon was imbued with magical properties through what method and for what reason? In all honesty, these sort of things is what fantasy, pve, story is all about and I’m not even a pve nut.

You’re right though, as legendary items go, Flameseeker Prophecies and Rodgort are decent examples of the direction those items should go in, but still imo aren’t enough. It’s like naming an item “Factions” and saying well, the second expansion was called factions so it fits.

I will say though that implied lore about certain items do exist, usually the items that have names attached like some of the armor pieces for example, Mhenlo’s gloves or w/e. Puts you in a direction to find out who he was and what he meant to this universe. Not sure there is anything in game to define that, but he was a pretty well known monk in the first game. But take and item like Volcanus, I want some in game lore telling me about this item. Take any of the legendary’s, I want some in game lore telling me about them.

Implied lore was something used in the first game a bit too, mostly with the green items. Take “Shiro’s Blades” for example, we fought shiro, those were his weapons, self explanatory. This game has a chance to do that and more. Reasoning why a character of that caliber would wield those specific weapons.
Even the lowbie crap skins bought for karma has little tidbits of info right on the weapons/armor.

I mean, seriously, there’s a guild bounty where your target’s special ability is throwing bears at you. Throwing. Bears. It could actually be pretty effective, bears are heavy and they’re going to be pretty kitten ed off when they hit, but it’s still a ridiculous idea. Then there’s the ‘silly’ personal story choices, numerous pop-culture references, anthropomorphic manatees, anything with Rodgort in the name (if you don’t know look it up), about 1/2 the asura tech and it’s unintended results….

Honestly I love the Dreamer. It is ridiculous, but it’s so ridiculous that it’s utterly brilliant and even though I actually prefer the longbow skills I want it for my ranger. I’ll probably get both that and Kudzu and switch between them.
