I was just rolling some stuff around and thought of a few things that could potentially be interesting additions to the game.

A new race?
There are currently Skritt, Hylek, Quaggan and Tengu already in the game, will these ever get into the game as playable races? Personally, as a long time guild wars player, I think I’d like to see Tengu added as a playable race, second to Charr of course but they’re already in. Tengu also have been kind of an already in demand race from a smaller population of the game, but there was interest none the less.

New regions?
I know they are adding a good deal of content and while new areas like south sun are nice, I’d like to see some “old” new regions. Crystal Desert, Far Shiverpeaks, Elonia or Cantha even. I would assume Elonia or Cantha would call for either an expansion or a HUGE patch update but I think these areas should be re-visited at some point in the game’s career.

A new class?
This one is a bit tougher than the others by far, what could be added to the game that isn’t already done or covered at least by another class? It would be rather nice to see an old expansion class return to favor, although quite a few of them would definitely have to be re-worked to fit the new mechanics for sure, just like the rest of the classes.
Personally, I’d like to see Dervish or Ritualist return some how.

What do you guys think, and I’d definitely love to hear some insight from A.net staff!

A: If a new race is added, it have to be one compatible with the current armor system. Also, skritts, hyleks and quaggans are totally out of question.

B: They are working in a new zone already. Please don’t push them, we did the same for years and the result was awful.

C: If they can’t balance 8 professions, what make you think they going to be able to balance 9?
Another heavy-berserker-dps profession is the last thing we need.

A: I expected that kind of a response, I was only half-serious about the first 3 suggestions

B: I’m not really “rushing” I was just expressing my opinion on what I would like to see

C: I can agree with the balance issue, but I definitely don’t think either of my 2 suggestions were “heavy zerker dps” professions

another heavy armor profession would be nice.

maybe a heavy weapons gun (imagine team fortress 2 heavy) that focus on suppressive fire. i.e. lots of ranged AOE attacks.

If they ever add a new profession, it have to be either heavy (so we have 3-3-3) or light (so we’ll have 2-3-4).
If they add another light, maybe the Ritualist may have a place but remember, Necromancers were AWESOME in the original, nothing compared to the garbage we have here and that may be same with the Ritualist.
In GW1, MM was the PvE king and yet, in GW2, people complain for our little army of squishy barely-useful minions. Now imagine if we ever get an SoS Ritualist.

So basically a warrior with more ranged? Problem is they would have to create new weapons since there is already a heavy class that uses gun/longbow, the warrior. And since this game favors melee dmg soooooo much more than ranged dmg, the new class would end up getting shunned like a ranger who tries to use a bow in dungeons exclusively.

they probably won’t add a new playable race for at least another year.

we might see 1-3 new zones over the next year, which may be temporary(like the cliffs)

you can safely assume that they will never add another profession.

Hard to get excited about a new class when you play a ranger and need a lot of attention focused on classes that exist.

If there is a new map, I certainly hope it is not PvE and would be WvW focused. There is little tangible benefit for a seasoned player to PvE without a good gear progression (not that I want one). For example, a zone where great treasure exists but you can be ganked by the opposing realm. Think along the lines of a Darkness Falls from DAOC. More importantly, it would be great to see the sPvP maps and system redone. That was supposed to be the heart and soul of the game.

There is no need for a new race IMHO. It would add nothing to the game.

I suppose in the grand scheme of things a new race wouldn’t really add anything, but it would be a nice “cosmetic” and open up new territory for content. There is some lore, with the Tengu at least, from GW1 that they could tap into and expand upon.

@Daimasei

I definitely agree that the minions for the necromancer in GW2 are underwhelming, they could use a bit of tweaking but even still I find them useful, but maybe that’s just me. I definitely don’t think the SoS Ritualist should be brought into the game, that would literally break the game as it did for GW1, they could solo kitten near everything. I said that they would need re-worked for GW2 as well, as I’m guessing you missed in my OP.

I also think more content for WvW would respark that mode, as it feels a bit…dead to me, perhaps it’s just my server rotation though. That’s a good point to make about that aspect of the game. sPvP is also iffy to me, there needs to be a change to it some where, as it’s definitely not nearly as enjoyable as it was in GW1.

1) Very much doubt it, and its actually detrimental to the game. 5 races is plenty to choose from already and having a new one would slow down the rate new armor comes out even more. Also, any chances of future storylines being unique to your race would look more unlikely if we get more races.

2) Probably. They didn’t mark out all those places on the map for no reason.

3) I don’t really see the point of that at the moment. As people have said before, existing classes are both incomplete and often lackluster. We have such a small number of skills to choose from I would think it would be much more beneficial for them to focus effort on making new skills and weapons for each class rather than making a new class altogether. This is the only game I’ve played where you can’t change your weapon skills.

Also, classes like the Guardian are rather bland. Their class mechanic is basically just 3 extra sigils with mediocre effects and long cooldowns (unless traited). Stuff like this needs work on.

They need to fix whats broken before making more stuff.
