The no-res-while-in-combat mechanic has been around for a while now, and I was wondering what people think about it now that they’ve had the chance to experience it in practice.

Basically, what’s more fun to you: running back from the waypoint, or laying on the floor waiting for your team to beat the boss?

Mindless resrushing isnt fun and every noobish kid can do it. Its not Challenge. We did all explo mods in all dungs without anyone in downed. It was hell of the fun make strategies and cooperation to do that!
Players now crying because they are to lazy or stupid to learn any kind of strategies. We live in time where smashing more than 2 buttons in videogame is unacceptable for majority of players.

Since the “I died. Oh well, i’ll just run back from waypoint, no worries”-mentality is gone;

- It makes you afraid of dying. Making you more aware of the enviorment and tactics.
- It makes reviving your teammates an important thing to do. Making you and your team more focused on keeping your group alive.
- It kinda makes the dungeons and its encouters harder. And they aren’t that difficult in the first place.

I like this. It shouldn’t have been possible in the first place.
Adapt, make strategies, up your game.

In all things, when asked for an opinion, make sure to point out that people of other viewpoints are crying, stupid, and lazy.

I’ve never thought a zerg from rez was any way to beat anything. But that’s my opinion.

On the other hand, half this game is a zerg, and TBH, the story mode encourages the behavior, so why not.

I hate it on certain encounters, such as the CoF Tribune boss and CoE Destroyer boss. There just isn’t any way for your team to ress you in the lava.

I like it. It indirectly vindicates support builds and gear set ups. Rez utilities and related traits have more weight. I don’t want the dynamic to tip so far as to require a support build in the party but I think for every party member swinging an extreme build (glass cannon or pure tanky/healy) there should be a sense of needing another to balance it back out to a certain degree.

Right now a team of glass cannons is better than a team of support builds. I’m not sure if this is by design. Perhaps they should look into making boons affect allies in a greater magnitude?

Just some ideas.

Since I obviously have an opinion on the matter (though I refrained from giving it for the sake of starting the discussion properly) I’ll give it here.

The main issue I have with the current mechanic is that instead of punishing the player who went down, it punishes the players that did NOT go down. For the remaining players, the fight just got 20% harder/longer while the defeated player can go afk to grab a hot chocolate, a cookie and when he gets back, the loot he didn’t have to do anything for.

It’s not about punishing. I guarantee if I went down it was because I was there in the front and doomed to go first most of the time. Or maybe one of those instances where effects downed me. There’s no fault to be given unless a person was just being stupid. Regardless, if you see a downed person in battle, they are your team, not some contestant that lost.

I like dungeons much better as they are now. Mind you, I’ve always hated running back from rez points.

I find people now go out of their way to make sure no one dies. If you’re in a downed state, people will try to get you back up. Sometimes, they’ll sacrifice themselves in the process, but it’s far more interesting and exciting than rez rushing.

This is definitely a step in the right direction.

It’s definitely not PUG friendly. It makes dungeons a hell lot harder too.

But it’s definitely something on the right path as it makes more sense to do dungeons this way. That being said, there’s still problems. Like OP said, it punishes those who are still alive. To remedy that, maybe there can be compensation, like for example, for every dead (not downed, dead) player, all the remaining players who are still alive gets a bonus 100 toughness/power/whatever (like a desperation buff).

The Ash legions production of Spy Kits has increased over 8000% percent.

There have been whispers of Ash secretly monopolizing Charr exports and Karma flow into Ascalon by using their new influx to buy out the supply of other legions karma goods and either reselling them or scrapping them for spy kit materials.

When the Blood Legion Imperator was asked to comment he only had this to say: “Blood legion don’t give a &*%$!”

One Iron Legion Tribune also had an opinion on the matter. "Until guns shoot Karma, Swordshadow’s pickpockets can have it. The more spykits they “sell” [finger quotes], the fewer mice I have to look at."

Meanwhile, inhabitants of Dinity’s Reach are more worried about mice they cant see. “Once the ne’er-do-wells get in on this business we will start seeing black market spy kits likely being traded to Skritt!”

I prefer the res rushing any day over this laying on the floor crap for up to an hour, i came to this MMO to play it not lay dead on the floor because i cant respawn and no one can ress me, bad mechanics only getting worse..

All the “fix” did for me was make me totally ignore dungeons, and start looking for a new game to be honest.

i would like to see a lot more useful/cool usable objects like the spy kits.
but maybe you could only carry 2-3 on your toon, with a mini hotbar addition.
that would create a little bit of extra customization.

wait…GW2 bad mechanic? Getting worse how?

Never been in a battle where everyone didn’t try to rez and/or win the fight. How is that NOT the mechanic we should have?
