My #1 vote for the first thing to put in any type of expansion is the Kodan as the next playable race.

Their animations are already in game, as well as voices. The city in Frostforge can be used as a capital city, and they’re already friendly with all races working towards the defeat of the elder dragons.

It’s set up perfectly, so ArenaNet. Make it happen!

Well, ArenaNet can do the following…

- Kodan added as a playable race alongside fighting Jormag

- Tengu added as a playable race alongside fighting Kralkatorrik and reopening Cantha

Personally I’d love to see both of them get added since they have interesting lore and also… who doesn’t want to play as a giant polar bear or bird.

You’ll have to wait for Tengu first! Almost every dialogue involving Tengu in game is filled with hints that come just short of outright stating that they will be playable very soon. I can’t wait for that! Have several of my favorite professions that I won’t play now because I’m saving them for Tengu.

What would fighting Kralkatorrik have to do with getting back to Cantha? You thinking of Elona?

Also, the Tengu are currently in western Kryta/eastern Maguuma, and are battling Primordius. Unless the next expansion involves battling all of the remaining Elder Dragons, it’ll probably be centered around Primordius, Tengu, and the Depths of Tyria.

The one problem I see about this is the lack of customization and relationship/similarities to the Norn (having two races that can be bears would be a little odd, yes a Norn can transform into other animals, but bears are what the Norn are associated with the most).

The Kodan are a pretty amazing race lore and design wise though, I hope something more is done with them in future expansions.

The way I see possible future races going, in relation to importance and depth of lore, however is:

Tengu: The opening of Cantha/fighting of Primordus (they already have their city mapped out on the map)

Centaur: Opening of Elona/fighting of the crystal dragon. (in Elona centaurs are pretty much allied with humans in GW, so if the union still exist that would they would be a shoe in). That or the Forgotten…?

Possible new underwater race for fighting the DEEP SEA DRAGON OR the LARGOS (if you don’t know the Largos don’t spoil it for yourself, they are worth the wait). (can’t see Anet letting use play Quaggan or Krait… though dear god that would be awesome).

Jormag: Kodan reallly only fit into this

I’m all for Tengu. Dominion of Winds for the starter area! Also I’ve seen multiple variations of tengu so there is a lot of customization they could do.

I think they pretty much have Tengu planned, or at the very least an expansion dealing with them and the Dominion of Winds.

Note that we will almost certainly never see the centaurs become playable. Anet already looked into doing so, but making decent centaur swim animations is nigh impossible and as such they were scrapped.
As far as my request go:
Kodan for Jormag
Tengu for either Primordus or Cantha
The Forgotten for either Elona, Kralkatorik, or The Redeemed Realm (Fat chance, I know, let me dream of an opportunity to slay Kormir though :P)
Personally I would hate to see an expansion for slaying every Elder Dragon, and if we have to have that Id like them to at least mix in Cantha or Elona expansions so that it doesn’t become, Run to Zone, Fight Minions, Enter Dungeon, Slay Dragon, Repeat

I’d much rather see the Tengu first. Norn can turn into bears so that should satisfy you for now. If the Tengu turn out anything like this, I’m happy for life.

Amazing style and variety, kitten would be epic.

I think the tengu are an inevitability, given all the setup for them around the world already. Beyond them, though? I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m really hoping that we’ll get to play a largos. I think the setup is there for them already, what with having a house-divided society and even a few individuals working with players.

I’m excited to see what the future holds in store for new player races, but I do hope that all the additions won’t just be various spins on bestial figures. Birds, cats, bears… Largos seem both new and interesting, and something that would be a great addition for those of us who like the seers and even mursaat.

Exactly what I was thinking as I was playing through the first couple of zones you encounter them in. Especially the artwork on the loading screen of that one zone with a kodan holding a woman’s hand? Forget which one but looks very cool.

Tengu would most definitely bring one of the coolest professions from the original with them… the Ritualist. Yes the Necro has a strong spirit world vibe, but I’m sure Anet would be able to bring something awesome to the table with this class. Like having 3 ghosts linked to you that provide players with buffs, offense, debuffs etc. OR even allow spirits to possess the players and granting them with different skill sets ect.

That would be pretty sweet. Kind of like a ethereal engineer

The problem with the skritt is that they need to have multiple with them to remain intelligent. So unless something is changed about their Lore or the player is given the ability to stack like 5 or 6 of them on top of each other…

So expect a northern expansion first.

Primordius is probably the last dragon.

An interesting choice for sure. If we add new races in the future, we’ll be sure to let everyone know. Thanks for the discussion! Since it’s reached it’s zenith, we’ll go ahead and close it now. Thanks!
