So level 80 characters can’t use these things.

Is there a real reason for this? I know you can buy tomes of experience with them, but that’s a rather roundabout way of doing things.

Also I wrote the title wrong, sorry.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Before masteries were a thing, writs gave 1/20th of a level every time. To keep experience mean something they changed them to what they are now. At the moment you can use writs to level characters under lvl 80, or convert to tomes since they can’t give you a 1/20th of a spirit shard if you consume them.

I don’t know, I think swapping them to Tomes first is much easier. One click eats 20 writs, one more click gives you the spirit shard if you really must use it on an 80. I admit having the DR terrace pass helps a ton there, as I can easily go there to inventory manage and if my writs are close to a stack I can quickly boil them down to tomes to save for my next key run/must-be-80-fast alt.

Sure we can. 20 of them = 1 Tome of Knowledge, which provides 1 Spirit Shard, which you need for Ascended Crafting.

At the same time though. It does beg the question of, if you have already completed your masteries and all of the experience you gain goes towards earning spirit shards, why can’t you directly use a writ of experience to fill up that bar 5%? No more waiting around until you get enough to turn into a tome. Not sure how easy that would be to implement though
