So I decided to purchase 5 dyes from the BLTP for 500 gems. Well, I got nothing of note(standard somewhat common dyes), not a single one of the Solar or Lunar dyes. If I was smart I would have read the small print better. There are 26(?) possible dyes, but only 6 are the new ones. Pretty sneaky way to get you to bye gems, hoping that you will get a new dye. Not purchasing this one again – that was REAL money down the drain.

No, not new. Just was hoping they actually gave you a decent chance of getting the dyes. But I guess I gave ANeT too much credit. At least it only cost me 500 gems to know that I won’t buy any dye kits from this moment on.

I could toss out the whole “rng is rng” thing, but I won’t. If you’re after a specific color or a guaranteed acquisition, it’s always better to just buy it from the TP. As with Black Lion Chest Keys, unless you’re doing it because you enjoy the gamble, don’t do it. We’ve seen the complaint about the dye kits and black lion chests many, many times now.

Establishing a baseline actually. New players, ok I can see them being misled, but established players? Its not like this is something “new.”

It’s also not like Anet hides the fact that there is a large selection of “regular” dies in the pool of colors that can be gotten. It’s in very plain black and white in the blog:

“It’s all about simplifying. Give your day and night looks a sleek new color with this dye pack, which contains a random dye from a hand-selected set of 25. You’ve even got a chance to collect six exclusive dyes.”

I can’t check in the store at the moment as I’m not able to get on, but I’m certain it’s stated there as well:
“Contains one random armor dye from a pool of 25 colors that includes six exclusive colors.”

As mean as it may sound, ignorance is not an excuse.
