Solo Viable?
Yes. This game is solo friendly and you can get to max level without ever the need to group with anyone. This is one of the most solo friendly MMOs out there.
Yes, and if you have the money you can actually get to max lvl without killing a single mob.
Yes, the game is really solo friendly. Avoid group events and you’ll be fine. Have a go at them if you are well-geared and know how to play, I’m sure you can do at least 20% of them.
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
Yes as everyone has said- it is easy and fun.
I leveled my first character with my husband and my last 3 completely solo.
It is one of the things I love most about this game-
As for group events you don’t have to be in a party- if you want to do it just ping it in Mapchat and do it with whoever shows up. If you are higher level you can go at them solo too.
You should be able to solo every event that’s not labeled as a group event. Some groups events can also be solo’d with a little effort. There are a few non group events in the game that are much harder than others though. Scaling due to active players in the area, though not participating, can also make events harder.
The end of the personal story requires a dungeon, which is meant to be done with a group. It can however be done solo, if you’re capable of soloing group events.
Just leveling is pretty easy. You can even get to 80 by just crafting or gathering.
Good to know, thanks for the quick replies.
This game might be the most solo friendly game I’ve ever played.
This game is a single player rpg with a chat box if you feel like socializing.

I tihnk you’re describing swtor and the chatbox is actually for talking to yourself.
You could get to the level cap without ever leaving Queensdale (or any of the other racial starter areas) if you felt like it. You’d miss out on a lot of the game if you did that but it’s easy enough to do.
In fact, lots of people only go to the higher level areas once for the map completions then never go back…and with the incessant/overdone/annoying crowd control the trash mobs have in those areas, who can blame them…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
If you see people doing event chains you should join in. You dont need to group up and the story for them can be entertaining and events are better exp then just doing hearts.
But jeez yeh you can level just by running around picking flowers, though that would get pretty boring :p
The game was designed for both solo and group settings. I actually find it faster leveling alone than waiting for a friend to finish their hearts and whatnot.
Yes, it’s easy to play the game solo. The MMO is really not about crushing challenge in the open world and, for the most part, GW2 gets this. In fact, most DE’s that are not labeled Group Event are easy to solo as well. You should never have a problem leveling through level appropriate zones. I always try to keep gear, especially weapons, up to my level and that generally isn’t difficult. They won’t all come from drops and judicious use of the TP is recommended (by me).
I soloed 96% of the game and only because I got way ahead of myself in the storyline where I was way below the level required for that part of the story and was assisted by guildies to complete but if you level up between story line advancement soloing all the way to 80 is a snap.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
You can go from lvl 2 to 80 just sitting in LA crafting, so yes.
If you want a fun easy cake walk while actually exploring (assuming you don’t have the resources or money to power craft) make a guardian or warrior and solo every event you come across.
All I wanna do is play and quest and reach the level cap.
And when I ask if it’s possible, what I really mean is “is it easy.” I’m not really interested in a challenge when I play an MMO, just something fun to pass time. It was possible in WOW and plenty others
Guild Wars 2 doesn’t exactly have “quests”… And it’s very different from WoW. Also, reaching the level cakitten omewhat meaningless in the game – if you go back to a low level area, your character will be scalled back in level as well, so you won’t be that much more powerful than you were before hitting the cap.
Are you sure you wouldn’t feel better playing a more traditional MMORPG? There are a lot of them on a free to play model right now.
treadmill, of being in that obvious pattern of every time I catch up you are going to

An easy way to do it is to go to all the level 1-15 zones first then the 15-25 zones and so on until you get level 80. I leveled all mine to 80 this way pretty much. They never saw more than a couple of mid level zones before level 80.

That’s what I’ve always done. I haven’t run into a more solo friendly mmo yet which is why GW2 is my number 1 mmo. I love soloing.
The game is solo friendly. But the maps can get pretty tiring after your 2nd character which is why some people just spend the gold and craft to get levels.
Solo as in “completely by yourself”, or solo as in “just not grouped up”? Except for dungeons you don’t have to group up for anything. Even harder mobs can be killed with a few folks around and you get credit even without being in a group.
If you are really all by yourself later champ mobs will be hard to take down by yourself. Some places will be hard to get to unless you play certain classes.
But to get to 80, you can stick to Queensdale all day long, as your XP rewards scale with your level.

Very true. Some of my toons I finished up the last few levels by running them thru the starter zones events. Some areas, like mid level Queensdale and the level 2-5 Norn area have back to back events. It’s very easy to gain a couple of levels doing those.
I lvl’d primarily solo. Sometime run round with a guildie. But my first toon was almost completely solo, many group events too. Which is why I don’t understand why some ppl say thieves suck in PvE. He kicked kitten from one end of Tyria to the other.
Now have a toon of every profession. 7 @ 80. Mostly solo. But not as much solo as I did with the thief. Pair with a guildie for funs more now. Doing kitten with voice chat and commenting on stuff, or saying it’s “all your fault” when ever I get attacked by a steam mech….. priceless. (That bit is due to storyline of asura, depending on what start you take with them)

Keep in mind you can’t solo the last portion of your personal story. For that you would have to group. But getting to 80, no problem solo.
Try out the Guardian if you haven’t already for soloing.
