Hey just getting back into the game and I was wondering with this Megaserver stuff I am hearing about does the server I decide to play on make a difference.

I REALLY hate to do this so bear with me, but Megaserver is pretty much the same thing as CRZ/Connected Realms in WoW, right? (IM not saying that’s a bad thing, actually it’s good – just want a frame of reference)

I know all professions in GW2 are pretty much DPS (and that’s fine), but back when I played some were a bit better for support, like the Guardian. I want to play an elementalist, I hear that class is great support, is that true? What’s the absolute best support class that is not a guard (I already capped a guard and want something new)

Are elementalists a dime-a-dozen like Guards used to be back when this game first dropped? I know there is not dedicated healing role in GW2, but how are elementalist heals? Is the class powerful in PvP… I like PvE mostly, but every so often I like a bit of PvP

Is Tarnished coast still the de-facto RP server? Is there a lot of RP in Gw2?

Megaserver lumps everyone from all servers together into once instance. Because of the large amount of people, there are usually multiple instances of the same map. The system makes sure people from the same server get put together where possible and party members are also taken into account. It’s possible by moving to a different instance by partying someone of another instance and then joining theirs by rightclicking their icon.

Yes, elementalists offer good support (in the form of fields, boons and CC). Their heals are good too. When you use staff you have access to 2 water fields and as an Ele you have plenty of blast finishers to blast them, not to mention your team mates can blast them aswell ofcourse. I can’t tell you anything about PvP myself.

Yes Tarnished Coast is still the RP server for the US, Piken Square is the RP server for the EU.

I have forgotten almost everything about GW2. I just logged in a few hours ago totally overwhelmed.

Engy is strictly ranged, right? I want to do ranged only. I had a Guard and a Thief before… want to try something new. If I remember Engy had a mega steep learning curve, is that still the case? That won’t necessarily put me off, but I’m just wondering.
