So… first I’ll start by saying thank you for:
- Finally letting us kill that psychopath who shall not be named. You’ve been teasing us like mad for over a year. Putting your player base through more than a year of a tease is a horrible thing to do.
- Not playing the insanity card with that psychopath who shall not be named (that thing deserves nothing but OBLIVION) and having her suddenly switch sides and become an ally. I would have most likely quit playing the game if that were to happen.
- FINALLY doing something that is at least seemingly related to the dragons… even though it’s not much to go off of. For over a year we have done absolutely NOTHING that had anything to do with the dragons. I will say that the conclusion so far is more of a conveniently set up “This was the plan all along” scenario, because that was way too much of a set up for a simple cinematic that had a mouth. So for now it’s a toss up. The next chapter better be 99% focused on an elder dragon, ANY elder dragon. I don’t care.
- At least partially listening to your customers and bringing another set of GW1 weapons to the game.
Before you read any further, please understand I don’t hate ArenaNet. I want them to do well, but here’s where the politeness stops. It’s now time for some tough love

How dare you milk your customers and loyal GW1 fanbase by once again hiding those weapons behind Black Lion Chest RNG? Many of us have repeatedly asked that you not do that. Give us the weapons outright for a set price of gems. As I’ve said numerous times before: I understand that ArenaNet is in the business of making a profit, not necessarily by pleasing their customers, but by using whatever business strategy works to bring in the dough. Your Black Lion Keys are that strategy. I get it: you have mouths to feed and bills to pay, but don’t milk your customers like this. FIXED GEM PRICE FOR WEAPONS LIKE YOU DID FOR THE ARMORS! You will STILL make a nice profit. Look at the numbers for the Zodiac armor. I am more than sure you made a very nice profit off of that… and the next paragraph explains why.
You purposely designed the algorithm/formula for the exchange rate of gems and gold so that, eventually, it will be completely inefficient and non-economical to use in-game gold to buy gems, forcing your customers to pay real money to get something they really want (I know because I and many others helped you test it). You didn’t hire an economist to design your in-game economy for ‘dynamic’ purposes, you hired that economist to design the economy for profit. I know the stuff is entirely optional and not necessary, but DONT MILK YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. You’ve done this more than once, and it needs to stop.
You effectively charge your casual player base (the ones that don’t have time to farm hundreds or thousands of gold to buy thousands of gems to buy a few keys to have a sliver of a chance to get a weapon ticket scrap that that you need at least 10 of to actually get a weapon) way more than a $15 monthly subscription fee because they have almost no choice but to spend real money to buy gems to get those “LIMITED TIME ONLY BUY THEM NOW OMG THEY WILL BE GONE FOREVER!” deals. It’s not just RNG, it’s EXPONENTIAL RNG that increases significantly after a short period of time, and it’s just wrong.
I opened 50 BL chests and got less than 5 ticket scraps and no actual claim ticket. That was 4200 gems, or more than $50. At that rate I would need to spend several hundred dollars to get enough scraps to get ONE claim ticket. I have 2 claim tickets, but I got those over the course of many months. By the time I have enough for a weapon, the cost of the weapon I want will have increased 5 fold. EXTORTION! A weapon skin should not cost more than $5 in real money, especially if it is a one time use item. The pay-2-win games offer more for our hard earned money than this.
Look, I’m not asking that you make rare drops more common. I’m telling you to stop milking your customers for cash they way you have been. Times are tough for all of us. Games like this are supposed to be an escape, not a financial trick to get rich.

Read the next sentence repeatedly and out loud until you get it:
A set price of gems to directly buy the weapon skins we want without Black Lion Chest RNG (like you did with the armor skins and various other services) is more than sufficient to make profit without treating your customers as if they bleed money.

This exponential RNG needs to stop. The death of that psychopath who shall not be named can only do so much to keep us playing.
