I just wanted to post something which I found rather discouraging today while playing in the Straits of Devastation map. While I understand the nature of a zerg is a large group of people running together and completing events to “share” the rewards, it shouldn’t dominate the way gamers choose to play in that world. Recent chats on the general map chat showed people flaming each other about whether they should be in a zerg or not, and even as to laugh at people dying because they’re not in a zerg? I find that not be to be of very nice “gamesmanship” as would call it. Since when did a free-world game come with such hypocrisy and narcism? No gamers should have to endure such hostility, unless they were deliberately trolling in the game. I don’t know what all you other gamers think about this?

Thats pretty kitteny, what server are you on? I just finished zerging it up for about 2 hours on Maguuma and whenever someone new came to the zone the zerg would help them join up, and everyone basically worked together from point to point helping each other out along the way and joking around in zone chat about various things.

At one point someone in the front of the zerg decided they were gonna get a vista, half the zerg did half the jumping puzzle before figuring out something was different and we all had a good laugh about it, no hostilities…

never witnessed such behaviour, but well, all games have their xxx.

And Dirty, no, it is not, but it is nice you found another occassion for your incessant complaining, good for you, man, good for you.

That’s great to hear LaterGator, so perhaps it’s just my server, which I would not name and shame lol. I too admit that zerging is an efficient way, but again, I re-iterate, it shouldn’t dictate how other players should play and we shouldn’t be hostile towards people who don’t join zergs. It’s their freedom and right to do so, if you wanna talk about it then please don’t use the general map chat. Flaming is a netiquette no one appreciates

I’m just glad that for three of the four temple pieces I’ve bought so far, the temple event was already completed when I entered the zone.

Picked up temple pants today while trying to put together a TA explore group (because of course none of the temple vendors sell precision/toughness/condition shoulders, and instead all sell one of two stat combinations).

Maguuma zerg is usually pretty helpful and friendly to new players in the area. Sometimes there are some smartass comments but it’s almost always in jest from what I can tell, and no one really takes it personally.

they were probably giving the lowbees who go to the orr zerg a hard time for the massive xp they get even though a level 50 shouldn’t be in orr

You see these lowbees running in the zerg without armor and i’m not sure they contribute much

I don’t give them a hard time, i just find it odd.

Orr ‘Zergs’? I’ve never relied on a mass zerg in Cursed Shore, Machlor’s Leap (Or whatever it’s called) or Straits of Devastation to get around. I’ve partied up with a few friends in the guild to help them get around.

As for map hostilities, there are always a-holes no matter what game you play. If you don’t like how these guys are speaking to you, simply block them and you won’t see those messages any more. More specifically, this ‘hostile’ attitude is pretty much everywhere. As recently as this morning and yesterday, there was much arguing and incompetence going on while I was traversing on my new warrior through Queensdale, Kissex Hills and Lion’s Arch.

It’s probably due to the fact they actually realize they can’t kill players whenever they want, nor can they KS them in this game thanks to it’s sensible mechanics, so they resort to verbal resentment and mockery instead.
