Yes I do understand that calling out specific Anet employees is not allowed, so I will not attempt to do so. Also I also understand that this isn’t the only post out there doing this sort of thing, but I thought that there wasn’t enough love on page one at the moment, so here it is
I love Guild Wars 2 and still actively promote it to my friends. Why?
It doesn’t have a sub fee. It’s inviting for people who don’t want to compete for loot and experience while playing with their friends. It’s inviting for those who want to have massive, strategised and organized battles (Tequatl, WvW). You get experience doing EVERYTHING in the game, so you don’t ever have to grind out that last bit of XP killing trash mobs. It has horizontal progression for its levelling system, I don’t have to get more experience each time I level up to get to the next one, the requirement stays the same. The devs are actively listening to and implementing player ideas and feedback, even in relation to the living story, both in design and pace (Giving us a loooong break, story driven updates to come with a massive content drop afterwards. Also I found that the Nightmare Tower LS was a MASSIVE improvement to previous episodes, having lasting changes to an area, paced out in a non exhaustive manner and having lots of group and soloable content, with decent rewards.).
The CDI.
The CDI.
The CDI.
Quite cool looking armours and skins to work towards, Legendaries, Ascended gear, etc. 5 Man dungeon system that help you find friends quickly, make memories when things go horribly wrong and give you something to do with your guild, besides missions and WvW and the like. And also, finally, the community that they wanted to make since day one: A friendly, co-operative and helpful community in game while exploring the world, fighting monsters and doing events. A community that won’t mind giving out very helpful advice in LA, people that go and help a player do a minor event to help them as well as get rewarded for it.
There are so many reasons to love this game yet people seem to get trapped in the negative way of thinking on the forums that they don’t see why they still play it anymore. I’m excited for the implementations of the CDI in the future, and I can’t wait for the content drop! Yes, this game does have cons too, but don’t only focus on those when giving feedback, The devs are people too. Imagine this was your game that you had created and worked on for years and every time you look on the forums you see nothing but “Why GW2 sucks” and “Why GW1 was better” and “Omg get rid of this”. This just serves to demotivate and hurt the feelings of those who have put so much hard work and effort into the design of this game. Please guys, look to the CDI’s if you need to learn how to give constructive feedback that is actively listened to, and help make this game better instead of constantly complaining about it.
Put yourself in the devs shoes, and give them some love

Next patch for is all Living story

2 world boses, 1 is temporary
More Scarlet
Nothing for Spvp til Feb
Nothing for WvW until April( no confirmation, EOTM may take longer to be released)

Many resources spent, many areas ignored.

either something is wrong with the corporate philosophy of the individuals in the company have their own focus and power. I doubt WvW devs have as much say or priority as devs in LS

I know this thread’s lifespan is very limited, but here’s hoping you (Devs) see it before it sinks into obscurity.

Thanks for all your hard work, and inspired designs. Thanks for making a fun game!
GW2 rocks! =)

Everybody wants Scarlet gone, according to the general view of the forums. So, they listen and instead of incorporating lots of time consuming updates to PvE, PvP and WvW, they want to give Scarlet her final performance and try to salvage some of her story and motivations in these last updates for this season. They are going to update WvW and PvP, just now more in a fashion that other MMO’s follow, per month instead of every update. And honestly, I prefer that.

I love the game and have recommended it to other people. Even though I don’t agree with all of the decisions, I am glad to be playing GW2 at my own pace (when I have the time even it means missing some content).

I love this game, the no sub. fee is the reason I bought this game in the first place. I like that it’s a casual game. (though there are options for the more hard core players, but first & foremost, it is a casual game)

I’ve managed to convince a friend to pick up the game as well.

Now if only they increased the number european serves, as most are on very high, than few on high, and 2 on medium. There’s not any low server S:
And made it free for the fist “x” members, to transfer to the ‘newly’ created server, I’d be very happy.

I got kicked out a few times last night from asura glade. And thats only a problem when it’s at it’s peak of players )=

but all in all, I do like them, and am happy I bought it.

The game has been developed very poorly given the vision ArenaNet set out, almost no area of the game feels polished. Wvwers feel neglected and many top guilds have quit the game (irrespective of RG returning the state of WvW is atrocious). The best Tpvpers quit the game last year and will never be back or never got into it in the first place, currently it’s only super and his friends that play in all tournaments because nobody else cares. The top tier PvE players are constantly ignored and the dungeon community has come together in outright despair. This game is doing a lot worse than it should and the mistakes that have been made are truly egregious.

If they add pvp servers, PvP Guilds would have more fun in Tyria, just saying :P

How do you know there will be only two bosses and one of them is temporary?
I expect more Living Story content than that.

Don’t need a PvP server for open GvG battles. In Tera you can start wars with other guild on the same server. It’s a really nice feature and it works, because when guilds are fighting and they come across each other they will fight it out anywhere in the game world, others who aren’t in those guilds won’t be affected.

What a awesome idea that is from Tera. That would truly make this game Guild wars.

I imagine the temporary boss being adapted to a fractal dungeon later on the game.

1st April joke, when gw2 receives a “balance” update.

First, thank you OP for creating this positive thread. Too much negativity going around.

Second, I agree whole-heartedly with the thoughts in the original post. I am thoroughly enjoying the game, and am spending probably more time in the game than I should, which says a lot for the game, since I’m rather picky on game-play. This is the first MMORPG I’ve played in a while that didn’t feel like a WoW clone. Kudos for that.

Lastly, ignore the negativity that has cropped up so far in this topic, and ignore the negativity that will surely follow my post here. You should have a place where you can be proud of what you have accomplished, which to me is a lot.

I’d bet that majority of folks who look upon GW2 favorably fall into one or both of these categories:

1.- played six months or less and play casually

2.- don’t play much PvP

2.- don’t play much PvP

3. Never really played another MMO before,

4. Part of the antiWoW group who have never actually played it (it being WoW) or were part of the “bad” MMOers who didn’t join the right server/Guild resulting in a bad experience and equates it to the game (other MMOs) as a whole being bad.

Of course, I’m not saying there aren’t those who actually have tried other MMOs and were good at them but feel GW2 is good. But seriously, those are few and far in between.

I was playing the game last night, doing a jumping puzzle, and that fuzzy feeling was there again. Thinking to myself, “This is why I play.”. The best thing a game can do is instill wonder. It’s that feeling that keeps me playing. Despite how I feel about the Living World, the core game is great. I love exploring it. Now that all of my characters are 80, I feel like I can focus on the fun aspect of the game, rather than leveling. Don’t get me wrong – I enjoy leveling, but it’s nice to have no pressure. This game certainly rewards that, at least in its core game.

3000 hours and counting.

My guild RX is full of people who have 3k hours plus and are very happy with the game.

We have several members who are WvW rank 750+ and at least 4 or 5 rank 50+ spvp.

What were you saying again?

I might be wrong though.

All gw2 has going for it is spiffy graphics and the most innovative combat system that’s ever been implemented in an mmo. It’s just too bad i can’t use that combat system to down an actual challenging boss for loot that’s worth a kitten … or kill some friends I know in duels.

I’ve played the game for more than six months, whenever I have the time, I play PvP when I feel like it, played several MMO’s before including WoW. I play games because I want to, that applies to every genre. I made the concious decision of buying Guild Wars 2 knowing both its potential and faults yet I still enjoy the game and play it when I’ve got the time. I’ve even recommended it to other people, to make their own opinion on the matter after actually playing the game then doing more lore research or vice-versa. I expect people to make their own mind when choosing a game after finding out both the good bits and the bad ones.
