Most players have stopped due to having gotten their achievements, or just gotten bored of it. However, guesting to the more populated servers like Blackgate or Desolation should still get you into a map with enough people to do the event.

Confirmed. This includes just about any other PVE content aside from LFG. I gave up on the FG trains in Mag and found them still rocking out full steam on other servers.

What did ANET do when the sheer mass of the event ZERG was too much for the server to support?
They had to SPAWN MORE OVERFLOWS!

The irony is most servers are empty because in PvE players have the option to guest to other servers to complete events, which in turn is the same reason their servers are empty.

I’ve been in overflows for Marionette on a non-home server that looked to contain more people from my home server than the one I was guesting too. However, since everyone else was guesting as well, it still had the better odds of high population success. The problem then is the random people who aren’t in big guilds or have access to knowledge where to guest to, will generally see the event as ‘empty’.

I honestly think it would make more sense to split Dynamic Events (or perhaps each mappable zone) into each specific server and relax the guesting constraints, than the current “If you don’t know, you lose” results.

I used to do the marionette multiple times a day with around a 90% success ratio, overflow or not. When EotM released, participation died down, though it had been since the previous week considering I could log in a few minutes early and not hit an overflow. Simply put, people moved on like usual. Having to suffer through the failures of others has also contributed to either quitting or guesting.

I see a lot of people complain about lack of numbers, which sometimes is just not true. Zerg mentality or whatever. Three people per platform for example is plenty of people and it only takes 5 players with decent DPS to defend a lane.

Nope, the problem is that people are LAZY. I’ve been running a world boss train yesterday and suggested going to Marionette. Wrote it at Ulgoth, at Caledon Wurm and at Shatterer, but people simply moved on to Megadestroyer (yeah, that long and boring boss with poor loot) while we didn’t even get enough people to fill the lanes. Reason? Simply standing there and hitting 1 is more “fun” for many people than doing something challenging.

20 level 80s and counting.

And people are upset when content is moved out of the game. New and shiny wins every time. It is still done on Aurora glade, just not as well or as often as before EOTM came out. It was really nice to have 3 or 4 times during the day that it would be completed but those days are gone.

Imho, most people were just fed up with failures (either due to low numbers or bad players ruining it) and the ones who were really interested on it started guesting to the servers known for doing it consistently.

The same thing that happened with Tequatl, overall.

After each new LS chapter, number of people doing previous content drops. Since Marionette is so number (and experience) dependant, it caused visible drops in success rates across all serves. This caused even more people to abandon the content.

Let’s face it, no content that requires 100+ participants is sustainable in the long run.

this-
also the same people who complain content was removed call a fight like Marionette “old News” now
and yet, many people asked for Marionette to be made permanent.
Go figure the forums :P

I was actually quite shocked to learn today that many people thought Marionette disappeared with last patch, they had no idea it was still up

Why would anyone want to keep doing an event or being on the map that kills you when it fails?

Two words “fail rate”

That’s why people stopped doing it. I know on my server people got fed up with 1 group blowing it for the rest of us. Time after time the same people that were taught click 1 and afk for world boss’s showed up and screwed it for the rest of us. So now we do not do it. Why should we waste time in a event we know we are going to fail.

If A-Net listened to us about allowing other platforms to assist after they were completed I think people would be more inclined to do the TM event. Its just faster to do wb that you know your going to beat 100% of the time.

Aurora Glade (EU) is still taking part in it. (With overflows, which I’d suggest to stay on, as they seem to do better/less lag. )

However, the constant fail puts alot of people off. They really should make it easier or something if there’s been “x” amount fails. It’s very frustrating.

And to have the whole thing fail because of one lane.. maybe should allow 3/5 = pass .. something, I don’t know really.

I want to add, that I actually quite enjoy it. (Despite instant death, more often than not.)
