There is something seriously wrong with the RNG of this game when it seems to become a trend that people who find precursors tend to find more than 1. I met a guy in a dungeon that had found 7 and accidently salvaged 1. I know people in my guild who have found 2 in 1 month. Then I see people who farm and farm and farm just so they can buy it and they end up playing the game way more than the people who tend to find these exotics. So there is seriously something wrong with the RNG system of this game in that certain accounts are “flagged” (which i know they are not) and will have a better chance at finding those items. Don’t RNG account creation

I have a guildy that joined the game only about 6 months ago. in the first month got 2 precursors, 2nd month got another.
left for a couple months and came back… got another precursor 2 days into his return.

I have had 1 drop since beta… my wife had 1 drop since beta (the cheap torch worth 60g too ) and I know people that have never had one drop since beta.

I know they have said the chances are not different for accounts… but i beg to differ. Those that get one early… tend to keep getting them… those that dont… will be lucky to get even one

Please get your priorities straight Anet.
Stat increase = gear grind.
Gear grind = no money from me ever again.

Winning streaks, losing streaks, long leads, etc are all features of random sequences. In fact, if everyone got equal results from a random sequence that would be an unlikely event.

The thing is, there is a difference between true randomness and automated random. If you throw down a die on the table there are millions of factors that can influence the die. However in a videogame, the outcome is only changed by the amount of factors you put into it. It can’t be completely random because it is all created through simple formulas.

There is no way this RNG system could match true randomness because of it. So maybe OP does have a point. Perhaps there could be account/soulbound RNG in place but we will never know.

then its not really random and there is a serious problem with it. I read a thread a while back on how guild wars uses an older version of the RNG system where it completely levels out almost every1s chance at those super rare items and makes it even more rare to find than it actually is. I know they want to allow the crafting of those weapons but i feel they are going to make it so hard to do that its going to be like farming gold is the better option

That’s how chance works. If you plot a random sequence of numbers between 1 to 10 on a graph, you shouldn’t expect all numbers to be included in the sequence the same amount of times. Some numbers will occur more often than others (e.g. number 7 may appear 20 times while number 3 may not appear at all).

Of course, I don’t like RNG in games. I think they should implement a system that affects the RNG in such a way so that people who have not gotten a legendary over a pre-defined period of time they would have their chances of getting one increased.

I like your idea too. I just want to find dusk for twilight but if I can t find that I would gladly take anything else and maybe try to craft that, just to say I have 1. I don’t have the patience to play this game enough to farm 1000g just to buy 1 exotic. I am nearly done my legendary too. I just need t6 mats and leather and obv icy runestones for twilight and ofcourse the precursor

I’ve been playing since beta. I have farmed incredible amounts of trash mobs, I was always in the middle of the current “biggest-mob” farm.
The circular arena thing? Yep.
Ember farm? Yep.
Orr pre-event farm? Yep
etc etc.

I have never gotten a precursor. I rarely got exotics.
I’m really tired of it. -.-

Yay more conspiracy theories. If it’s that problematic for you, save up the money and buy one. GW2 doesnt force you to need a legendary weapon.

conspiracy? This is based on math and trends, not something that makes no sense. I think people farm enough for the materials for their precursors and i bet you most ppl who have more than 1 don’t farm as much as the guy above you. They end up having so much money that they just keep making the dam weapons and selling them

RNG.. ah lovely. First of all to put your QQ in scale i have played since beta and i have NEVER EVER seen a precursor drop. My wife got 3 from mystic toilet in one week. Life sucks and then you die.

in RNG, there is a guarantee of winning streaks and losing streaks. the other thing that is guaranteed is that it will /not/ be evenly spread.
also, maybe you should be doing things that can drop precursors. not everything can. I have no idea what can/can not.

… mystic that doesn t help one bit XD. It is something that needs to be adressed or else they risk losing player base at the frustration. I want to play the game to enjoy it, not to farm endlessly until I hate the game
