@sinzer
That presumes it’s the DR giving control over the bots, but that can’t be the case as the DR was implemented a while ago, but the “having bots under control” is a fairly new development. Which indicates to me that it wasn’t the DR, meaning the DR servers no purpose but to hinder legit farmers at this point.
But even if it were the DR that’s letting them achieve a level of success against the bots, that success is coming at the cost of harming legit players more than the bots, because in the long run the bots still do better than we can.
They said DR shouldn’t affect legitimate farmers. But all I hear now are ways to get around DR, how to avoid getting hit by it. I’m sorry but it’s not my job to work around that system. Punishing everybody to get at the bots is not a winning strategy, and I refuse to pander to someone else’s laziness.

I absolutely love exploring the world they’ve created, it’s one of the most gorgeous game environments I’ve ever run across, but sometimes I just. want. to. farm. stuff.

It’s part of what keeps me in a game, being able to put effort into a goal, in this case some nifty gear. But I like to be able to make tangible progress in a sitting, thus I farm some stuff. When I can’t make any measurable progress towards a goal in a single sitting, the goal becomes pointless, and I often wander away to something else.

There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

DR code needs to go. Bots are under control except for teleporting node bots, and those don’t get hit by DR anyway. So many regular players are worried about DR that honestly the PR from taking it out would be a big benefit alone. And like OP says, sometimes I just want to be able to stay in one place and farm for a bit. Kill mobs, chat with guild, rinse, repeat. Why does everything have to be a huge exercise in running around the world? It’s a gorgeous world, but why do I need to be constantly crossing areas?

Right now farming is more annoying than rewarding. One cannot concentrate on a particular area/zone to farm a particular item because DR is haunting you and you will end up grinding.

Players want to do particular things within the game, however, have this huge barrier dropping constantly infront of them (i.e. DR), while ANet continuously says “…we want you to play the game how you want to.’.

With all the constraints put in place, ones own gameplay definitely looks like a singular and narrow path toward a goal.

I can find particular items I am farming for while keeping on the move. So I find your statement more aimed at laziness on your part.

Laziness to me is what makes bot have a business.

If you do not wish to put forth the effort to control your character and not run around is the same circle for hours on end this GW2 is your game.

If you DO want to run in circles in the same spot. You are point blank lazy and that is not farming.

per wikipedia Farming is:

The term farming covers a wide spectrum of agricultural production work. At one end of this spectrum is the subsistence farmer, who farms a small area with limited resource inputs, and produces only enough food to meet the needs of his family. At the other end is commercial intensive agriculture, including industrial agriculture. Such farming involves large fields and/or numbers of animals, large resource inputs (pesticides, fertilizers, etc.), and a high level of mechanization. These operations generally attempt to maximize financial income from grain, produce, or livestock.

Traditionally, the goal of farming was to work collectively as a community to grow and harvest crops that could be grown in mass such as wheat, maize, squash, and other cash crops. Centuries later these same farmers took charge of livestock, and began growing food exclusively for the feeding of livestock as well as for the community. With the growth of civilization the farmer’s focus changed from basic survival to that of financial gain. In smaller towns on the outset of civilization the farmer did retain the need to grow their own food, but the financially minded farmer was largely spreading. With the Renaissance came the plantation, a farm primarily worked by others primarily for the gain of the plantation’s owner. Then came a new age of industry where the farm could be staffed by fewer people and big machines. This meant a complete revolution for farming.

Once you read this from the subsistence farmer to plantation owners you will see in the description a main theme.

WORKING to gain a product.

For GW2 farming is done by seeking out what you want in the areas that have the type of product you desire. You do this by keeping on the move not going in a circle.

Your description says you want to do one thing. Run a program so you can set it on auto and come back later and say yeah I have stuff.

This is called BOTTING.

Learn to use the mechanics of the game as they are meant to be played or go elsewhere. Bots are not welcome

If this is your playing style you are not welcome and I look forward to the day I can catch your bot and get you banned

Warriors are those who choose to stand between their enemy and all that he loves or hold sacred

Sorry I meant some particular items (eg. lodestones). No, I am not lazy and do travel alot. However, some items can only be gotten from a particular zone/area, hence with DR looming it makes this an unenjoyable farming experience to say the least.

P.S. You assuming that I bot? -> /FF (=facepalm fail)

P.P.S. Your lenghty post about trying to prove that I bot made me lol as well. Dude seriously /FF
