Why hasn’t there been a quarterly update announced??

Well … for the start they’ve stopped quarterly when they started Season 3 of Living world. Last episode came out 55 days ago, which is less than 3 months.

I thought the quarterly update schedule only applied to PvP balance changes.

But either way our last big update was 18th October, when the Halloween event started and they did a load of balance changes. Before that it was 20th September when Rising Flames came out, they made a bunch of changes to Fractals and a new PvP map was released.

There’s been speculation that there will be an update in November, which obviously won’t be tomorrow since they haven’t announced it, but could be the 22nd or 29th.

That would still give plenty of time before the Wintersday update which is likely to be mid/late in the month. (Remember that despite the similarities to Christmas the actual day of Wintersday is New Years, and Anet is closed over the holidays meaning they don’t do updates early in January so they have both in-game and real-world reasons for the Wintersday update to be late.)

It’s only a major holiday in one country. Over here we call it Thursday.

Also they usually do updates around major holidays. That’s what Winterday is all about.

Wintersday drops mid December. There is a likelihood that Episode 3 will drop next week or the week after. Considering there’s now a 1/2 price sale that ends the 22nd, that lends to the likelihood that Episode 3 is soon.

Imo it would be more foolish to let players from all over the world wait because one country is having a holiday. But considering Anet is based in the US that’s probably exactly what will happen…

I wasn’t being an ignorant nationalist, I promise. :P A considerate management would space it properly so employees can get their holiday time instead of overtime.

MO’s a much quieter leader than the original hype train, that’s for sure. We also saw some balance changes and content patches less than 2 months ago, so I wouldn’t expect much until January. We’ll just have to accept that we’re coasting to Wintersday and then riding the festival out until next year.

Well they at least do a gem store sale or something on Tuesday’s so hopefully we’ll get a blog post about it being next week or something. Maybe some new black lion weapons I’m actually interested in. >_<

Honestly, I find it more likely that Wintersday and the season update will be one in the same. Assuming we’re following up with Braham and the quote that Jormag is also active, it could be an appropriate time to wrap them both up into one tidy patch.

I thought they lazily slapped quarterly patch onto Halloween. Just like they lazily slapped legendary armour onto hot as a selling point and then never release it.

Mike stated there would be no more ‘Quarterly’ releases a long time ago, when it was announced that the major releases may come more often. Which they have.

I would guess that’s why there’s ‘no quarterly update’, at this time.

If you look on reddit, massivelyop, several other forum post, the trailer and visit the NW corner of Frostgorge Sound, you can see testaments to a new map. Plus devs said every new LW will come packaged with a new map. I really doubt they’ll fit an entirely new Jormag statue and Kodan sanctuary in a new raid wing or into an updated Frostgorge, it just doesn’t make sense for any other explanation than a new map to be coming. Between the video and the massivelyop post there’s a kittenload of new pics.

No, the devs said they would like to have a new map for every Season 3 episode. They are giving themselves an out if push comes to shove.

I do wish atleast for the holiday we got pumpkin pie and turkey drumsticks or whatever it was like we had in original guild wars. I remember farming those raptors for them lol. At the least could have put a giant turkey to zerg on in lions arch :P rofl

Yes. The might generated from PS warriors will have its duration reduced by 33%.
