What is she supposed to do?

Currently my necromancer is “stuck” on Caithe’s Reconnaissance Squad. When I talk to her the tool tip on the right goes away, but the map marker remains. When I map out of Lion’s Arch and then return, I once again receive mail that I need to speak to her to repeat the process.

I don’t mind that it happens, as it’s been like this for several months, but I’m just wondering what was supposed to happen.

I think she is there to fix personal story issues, not living story issues.

I have five toons, all of whom were affected by the ‘Personal Story Restoration’ update from a year ago, meaning they were all past ‘The Battle of Fort Trinity’ when the update took effect and so didn’t get to play the ‘My Greatest Fear’ storyline.

I finished the personal story with my main, but the other four toons I left on the last step, because I just didn’t feel like killing Zhaitan four more times.

My main is now experiencing the problems you describe with the vanishing tooltip and repeated mails, but my other four toons were reverted back to the ‘My Greatest Fear’ storyline. So I’m guessing that is what is supposed to happen, and it is either bugged in that it does not revert toons who have finished the personal story, or bugged in that it does not recognize it should not be sending mails to toons who have finished the personal story.

So send a bug report and I’m sure they’ll get around to it, and in the meantime avoid LA. The Black Citadel is nice this time of year . . .

But she is bugged and keeps sending messages to every character. Every time you enter LA. Over and over.

Well it’s not every character. Like I said she did what she was supposed to do with the four of mine that had not yet killed Zhaitan. It’s just the one that has that she is bugged on . . .

Only bugged on one of mine too…

Still annoying though, especially combined with “the ready up for a fractal, bugs out back to lions Arch” bug. :/

Not every character. I have a low-level character that did not started the personal story yet, and this character does not receive her emails.

I think she triggers the email for characters depending on that the characters have completed the story step bevor the “missing” step, but not the following step but does not take into account that there are characters that, despite the missing step, have completed the personal story and are not stuck and that is why she can not fix it and sends this email every time you enter LA.

Pretty much, yeah . . .

I apologize for reaching out to you unbidden, but from afar I sense that you are very annoyed when you receive unsolicited mail and whispers. Please come to me in Lion’s Arch so that I can present you with a choice that doesn’t do anything no matter which option you select.

I’d rather she tell the truth rather than a sooth! I keep getting these every time I enter L.A. but no matter how many times I talk to her, she keeps badgering me.

Yeah it’s a known bug, I think they’re working on it.

There’s been a lot of people complaining about her constant mailing them, looks like those court injunctions aren’t working!

She doesn’t do it to me and I feel left out :-(

They said probably Monday before the bug is fixed.

Yeah I was feeling left out since the update… all my guildies were complaining about it, but I wasn’t getting them. Then it started Saturday morning.

My human mesmer character actually >has< a broken personal story; however it is broken in Chapter 8, not Chapter 7, so Soothsayer Jacinda can’t see anything wrong with her personal story… is this a known issue/are there plans to expand Jacinda’s role to fix such issues already in the works, or is this a situation the developers overlooked?

(My mesmer’s story just ends in Chapter 8 after the tank escort; without going any further into Orr)

Luckily it seems i am excluded, yay.
