Good day,
I am writing this primarily to re-address concerns that may be directly linked together and suggest a solution. I am well aware your team has their hands tied with tickets and various other issues. Therefore, I will try to make this short and as simplistic as possible.
The first issue that has come up so far, which I think I saw about 8 posts on, was related to the soul bound and account bound items. I did notice this myself as well. I started with the three day head-start and acquired over 50 tonics. Once some friends joined on launch date, I gave them the tonics to goof around and enjoy. After the September 6th patch, I believe, a lot of items became soul bound(not just account bound). I can picture scenarios where that had to be done to limit a mass “Captain Planet” routine going on with people pumping riches or levels to the extreme in 1 day. Does it make sense to make crafting and gathering supplies soul bound? What can one do with tonics if not interested and it consumes storage space? What ended up happening for most of these items, I destroyed or consumed while i watched a movie or something.
The second issue, which is in uprising and will become a major problem for all players, is the spam via mail system. The Epic MMOrpg has emerged, there is money to be made, and gold sellers are on the move. The issue with the mail system isn’t just that one guy spamming to annoy you, its the lack of limitation to the gold seller that can spam for the longest time before being reported. My guess would be 1/50 people would actually bother getting the name and posting it up in the forums while the rest delete it and move on. Deleting and moving on works for now as there aren’t that many. That will change rapidly as more gold sellers are catching on. The first one I got in 1 day and the second one I received 3 the next day. It will climb exponentially as time progresses and eventually nobody will bother checking their mail nor receive quest rewards or purchases via trade post mailed items due to a full inbox.
As one person said, ‘there is no “report spam” option in the mail system.’ That would be a great idea for a right-click option or a button.
My suggestion for the overall to limit “Captain Planet” (as well as other similar concepts) and the notorious Gold-seller was to implement some sort of mailing fee roughly about 20 to 50 copper coins. This option should also enable early players to share with their late joining friends with not much of a hassle as they will have sufficient funds to do so and will ‘carpool’ mail thus causing less mail traffic at an efficient rate. The Gold-seller will also have to spend a lot of copper to send messages out. In most cases, they will not, and there we have a significantly lower rate of spam via mail as well. As the economy gets ‘wealthier’ the cost should be adjusted accordingly.
I hope the team will take my suggestion for this mailing fee and the previous noted reporting option by the other player into consideration. i also hope to hear feedback from them as well as players/readers on this topic about their concerns/thoughts on how this would affect specifics I have not touched up on. Hopefully with that a junk filter won’t be needed like an actual email inbox. Great game so far, love the pace and innovation. Thanks to all for your time.
