Q:

I never understood why some items soulbound. What is the purpose of that?
Shouldn’t I be allowed to give a thing from one of my characters to another?
Is it something to do to keep the economy running?
I understand why stuff is account bound, but not soulbound.

I’m safe. I’m fat. I’m a noob.

A soulbound item is effectively taken out of the game economy. You can vendor it or salvage it but you will never realize anything near what you paid for it.

It’s essentially a form of gold sink. Items and coin are continually coming into the game. To maintain price levels and asset balance a method of taking items and coin out of the game is needed. It’s a delicate balance to maintain and more often you see professional economists at least consulting around games like MMO’s where economy matters.

I don’t understand why Ascended are Soulbound and Exotics are not..and the rest? also in that case shouldn’t Legendaries and Percursers be soulbound as well…
