What is the point of the spawning window for bosses? All it does is make it harder to find people to dungeons now because all they do is farm bosses. I know the changes are going to change that but you have people waiting half an hour, or even 1 hour (jormag) sometimes just to kill a boss instead of having a fixed time, or even a smaller spawning window to allow for people to play more of the game instead of standing around everywhere

let’s face it: people waiting for a boss are not playing. they wouldn’t be playing somewhere else if they weren’t not playing, they would just be not playing somewhere else.
that’s ignoring the likelihood all of the people waiting for a boss for 1 hour are bots.
I’ve waiting 20 min for a boss before. had GW2 windowed, an episode of The Office on next to it, and eating 2 slices of pizza.

It’s a person choice whether they stand around or not, no one is forcing them to or ‘allowing’ them to play more of the game. It’s there choice and the dynamics don’t need to bechanged. Doesn’t affect the availability of people to play dungeons. There are plenty out there.

I agree that it wouldn’t make any difference. If they were on a fixed timer the people currently hanging around waiting for them would just log in, do the event(s) and log out again.

As for why they went for a spawn window rather than a fixed timer I think it was to give it some spontaneity. So you’re going through a zone and think ‘Oh cool, event’s starting’ rather than looking at the clock and going ‘4pm, time for the Frozen Maw’. (Although I wouldn’t be surprised if it was also to make it harder to endlessly farm them.)

I never though about it, but I’d be absolutely fine with no spawning windows and just adding 30 or so minutes onto the current timers.

When I’m waiting for a boss I don’t just sit there and wait for it to pop, I’m usually somewhere else in the zone doing something.

Just a little while ago at jormag I made over 1 gold..almost 2 while I was waiting for his pre events to start, and I wasn’t alone.

Edit: ^ Disregard this post, I misread the OP..

It’s really terrible that you have to wait for social to open to collect your welfare.

But it combines the two best things about the game into one event: RNG and a time sink. What more could you ask for really?

Why do a frustrating dungeon for very little to no reward, when you can do a relatively easy world event for a guaranteed reward?

People will wait an hour for something rewarding, they wont for nothing..

I’d rather stand around for 45mins waiting on Jormag, alt-tabbed reading the forums then doing any of the dungeons in the game.

Well i personally like to keep the game fresh. I haven’t done a dungeon in a while because of the world bosses ill be honest, but there are other things to do instead of dungeons. Finish zones. Do world vs world. sPVP, veling new characters, Jumping puzzles, and yes dungeons… I just think having a spawning window of 1hr and 15 min for a world boss is just a little too much.
