I’d buy a royal terrace pass in a heartbeat if I was able to pop it and then load over into Fractals to join a team I just LFG’d. Add in access to the Raids and you’d get even more interest in it as a convenience item. Heck, give me an item that lets me join these game modes directly and I’d probably buy that (I pulled the trigger on the home portal stone ages ago and have been happy with that, it ensures daily looting of my home instance).

Lions Arch just takes too long to load, even on a recent machine with kitten – it’s slow and enough of an interruption to provide that ‘on second thought’ moment of “meh, I’m having fun – maybe I’ll just keep on doing what I’m doing”.

Add to that the fact that all it (particularly) offers over my guild hall is the crafting stations, and zoning straight to a city other than LA, and it becomes hard to convince myself to buy, even at 30% discount.

I had been sitting on a 2 week pass for the airship (which I understand people say has a worse layout) and the crafting stations are simply way too close together. The only vendor that is worth having on the lower level is the laurel merchant, so why not spread things out a bit and bring the laurel merchant up top.

If it’s meant to be a convenience item – then I don’t think it’s quite doing the job it set out to do. If it exists solely because LA loads slowly, and that was a conscious decision, then – well – there you have it.

I have a Royal Terrace pass. I wish they’d either remake it so it’s in the Mists or make another that’s in the Mists so I so I can pop over to it to use the services and then return to where I was. In addition, make it permanent (like the PvP lobby area is in the Mists but you can log out there and log back in and you’re still there) and put a portal to the cities in it.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I have one (Noble’s Folly), but only use it on a single character, the one I park in the area to craft (and play with the makeover npc). I don’t even remember why I bought it, but I find it pretty useless so don’t even share it among my characters in a shared slot.

why do I find it virtually useless? because there is no return to where you were option, so it is way more convenient to go to the pvp lobby to use vendors/bank/tp if I need them for free than it is to waste a shared slot on the scroll.

I’d buy more of them, or even an extra shared slot to put the one I have in if they had a return option. as they are waypointing to Rata Sum (or any city) is on the same level of convenience, which doesn’t really make them convenient at all.

I’ve had a Royal Terrace Pass since they were first released, and I find it one of the, if not the, most convenient items I’ve acquired. I have it in my one-and-only Shared Inventory Slot. I acquired another, much later, and gave it to my Guildie. He thinks it’s great, as well.

I guess everyone has their own particular views about items.

There is one thing the Royal Pass gives you access to that you didn’t mention – Mystic Forge. This can at least save you a trip to LA for that purpose if you ever need to use it.

I pretty much only got the Royal Pass when I did way back when simply for the free/fast teleport back to DR which I consider my main town. I always log in and out there and do all my banking/selling there. The fast/free travel is worth the cost imo for that convenience. The crafting stations and everything else I see simply as a nice bonus on top.

The problem I have with it is that you can’t go back to where you were, or at least not instantly.

That means for the bank/TP/merchant the PvP lobby is better and for anything else I can go to the PvP lobby and then to LA, so all it does is save me 1 loading screen. That’s not worth 1000 gems to me.

I just got the discounted RT pass, and I’m happy with it. Just couldn’t stand the thought that an area of my favourite city is locked off for me, like I’m some sort of a filthy peasant.

i could have bought the Royal Terrace pass. but i just see no need it as it offers me noting at all . that i can not get from any other part in the game . while its nice to have them um, special areas . for me i just can not justify spending the gems for it . even at 700 gems to me . it still just was not worth it .

I actually left out mystic forge and laurel vendor – forge, because you can still get a portable one for ~63g (though mystic forge conduits are getting rarer and rarer, only about 100 left of the cheaper on TP, and 30 of the more expensive one), which I did many years ago), and laurel because I just don’t think it’s used frequently, since you can only gain laurels from login rewards (and perhaps some AP tiers?). TBH the laurel vendor I use most these days is the one in fractals, which I can’t get to from these passes.

I have to agree that making it instanced so that you can enter/exit it from anywhere would greatly increase the convenience, that’s part of the reason I prefer using my guild hall for most of these services – because I can do just that.

Come to think, I didn’t look around for one – I assume there’s a repair anvil somewhere?

The royal pass is a life saver for scribing or crafting which I do alot everything you need is all so close together. Making everything super convient to do. I also enjoy it because it loads a lot better than lions arch.

Yes there is a guy you talk to as soon as you spawn in who will repair your gear for free. Wait or did you mean the guild Hall? If so then yes again, and again it’s pretty much where you spawn in but for the hall it is an anvil. You may have to unlock it tho via upgrades.

We only need more scroll, I have bought my royal pass and I’ll dance between bloodstone fen, ember bay, bitterfrost frontier and lake doric to farm rare gear.

My biggest hope is the creation of home instance asura gate for HoT maps.

Extremely unlikely imo. It would cut into their sales of the gemstore Home Instance Portal Stone that lets you go there and return to the map you were on.

How so? The stone takes you directly to your Home Instance. After that you can either return to the spot you were or exit to Divinities Reach. To change it to a portal in HoT that then takes you to the Home Instance means it would not only have to be reworked but it would conflict with those accounts that don’t have HoT but have a Home Instance Stone.

Edit: are you suggesting a portal in the home instance that leads to a HoT map? That’s an interesting idea. However it seems sort of limited, seeing as there are new maps coming out with each LS and later with the next expansion. More likely imo would be another pass you can buy with map currency that takes you to a HoT map.

Do people actually buy that thing? It seems pretty useless since home instances don’t actually have many services and many of the home instances have horrific placements for nodes and such; though I guess you can go back into town for free. I don’t see it being any more useful than EOTM or HOTM. The special access passes at least have the gimmick of being a VIP area. And the forge.

And this is coming from someone that put repair canisters in a shared inventory slot. (though not awesome enough to get the permanent one.)

I bought one and have it in a shared inventory spot. It’s a convenience item and makes going to your home instance to merch (if it has one), harvest for a daily and repair (if it has one) then return to your map simple and easy. Mostly it’s for the harvest for daily and return ability.

Edit: if you don’t have a fairly full home instance with a good number of nodes is not very useful.

Well, if node access is the priority here, I don’t think it overlaps too much with the passes even if they could instant return. Except the Royal Terrace but the human portal instance isn’t particularly convenient anyways.

I would personally never buy the stone myself, unless the fix up the placement for some of the home instances. The Norn one wants to make me cry.

Granted I don’t have enough gathering/wood nodes to really help with it anyways. Only the mining one.

Yah. It’s only of real use once you get a fairly well set up home instance. If you don’t, then it’s pointless. My H.I. has a fair number of nodes. Enough to either get a full or 90% harvest daily so I use it every day that there’s a core Tyria harvest daily. For that it’s very nice.

Well, I suppose I shouldn’t have worded it strongly. It’s just that 900 gems + setup costs just is too rich for my blood.

But I think that they target different audiences and I was thinking it wasn’t something on the casual player’s menu as it’s a very high end luxury item that requires a lot of setup. Well, the Royal Pass is a luxury item too I guess…

That and I don’t have any Asura toons. That would drive me more to it but I’m lame and have like 8 humans.

I’d never buy them, waste of gems, when i can do the same thing with a few minutes of loading. Now if they were changed more like the op’s idea, where you could go from them to anywhere like fractals then maybe. But to have one just to have bank, crafting, tp all closer, plus city asura gates no one cares about no thank you lol.
