Speed Running ?
yes that is how they do it sadly to say they can not see past the end of there noses to try a different way ever . just run to the corner kill boss and leave with rewards . yeah you ant the only one that holds this thought . as it does turn the game off to a lot of people but they will never tell you that.
thats sad
it does ruin it to be honest, especially for new players or people who want to enjoy the game, speed running through everything in a mmo feels like a daily chore its not fun ;/

very well said and so very true as some one who has been around a bit longer . yes it takes all the fun out of the game . and there are thos here who are too blind to see it is real or even too who will never tell you they agree with you . and honestly that is just what it feels like with any thing like that no fun and they try to make it a choir to do
Make your own group and say you don’t want to skip.
Why does what one group of players likes to do affect your enjoyment of the game? This game has more than enough players on either side of the skip and don’t skip crowds to support both play styles at the same time.
Yes, it’s like taking a tour of Rome in a Formula 1 racer. Sure you finish faster but what do you remember about the sights?
RIP City of Heroes
You don’t have to speed run. Either make your own “all welcome, casual run” LFG or look for one. There are definitely those out there like you that don’t like to rush, rush, rush through everything.
If you’re looking for a casual party, start a group yourself and toss the words “Casual” or “Not speedrun” or “No stacking/skipping,” in the group description. I do fractals more than dungeons, but I never have trouble getting players to join me when I do that, and they’re usually pleasant, easy-going people. I’ve gotten newbies as well as skilled players who tell me they joined specifically because of what I wrote in the description.
The important thing is to find like-minded players. Some people like to speedrun dungeons, and that’s okay. If you find the majority of groups doing dungeons like to play differently than you do, start your own party and find players like yourself.
so basically i shouldn’t let end game speed runs etc ruin the game for me ?
just really want to play the game and enjoy it thats all

If you’ve done the tour hundreds of times while not in a Formula 1 racer, you may remember a lot about the sights even after doing a tour in a Formula 1 racer.
Just like I can easily picture my route to work right now because I’ve gone past the same sights over and over and over again, a number of players who skip have done the dungeons hundreds of times and can easily describe the dungeon.
ah ok i understand now, thank you guys for the replys
Right!
Play the game the way you want to play it, and if that conflicts with what certain other players want, find the players who play the way you do. Everyone is happy that way.
To put things in perspective, a lot of speed runners have been playing the game for a long time. They’ve already enjoyed the game when they started, so it’s all repetitive now – so it’s going to be a chore either way, the only difference it how long that chore takes.
The most common advice here is simply for you to form a group with like-minded people – either through advertising casual runs in LFG or finding a casual guild – and have fun with them.
You can’t really do that in most newer MMORPG’s/ARPGs. It’s more of a design issue that hopefully won’t be there for HoT dungeons.
in dungeons or high end game do people just speed run everything ?
every video i watch or stream is just run through everything and sit in a corner and snipe, kind of puts me off the game a bit ;/
The players that don’t want to brag how fantastic they are normally simply don’t
post videos or streams. In alle the guilds i have been so far i have met maybe
3-4 people that did speedruns before but either they didn’t wanted to do that
anymore or they left after short time.
From my personal experience they are simply a minority that are only overrepresented
on forums .. very much like raiders in other MMOs.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
You can often find more relaxed groups if you just take the initiative to advertise a party with the description set to “casual run, for fun, no cheese tactics” and similar phrases. Not everyone that plays the game is interested in doing everything as fast as possible. Some of us dislike the whole zerk-only mentality that some others have. But they are fully entitled to do their runs the way they want to do them, as long as they are not exploiting the game. I can create my own groups.
So, take the initiative yourself. Advertise that party. It’s not like doing so automatically means that you have to call the shots or “lead” the groups you are putting together. I’ll be surprised if your groups don’t fill up relatively fast, during active hours at the very least (e.g., advertising a party at 4:55 am is not necessarily going to work out that well—though sometimes you’d be surprised).
