I have 3 80s right now, soon to be 4: Necro, Engineer, Ranger and Guardian. I would like the next one I level to be a Mesmer (tried Warrior at first but its boring, IMO.) On all 4 of these I used Signets or Swiftness to achieve +25% run speed or more while I leveled them.

Unfortunately I became quite addicted to getting around so quickly. Is the Focus 4 skill the best way to get faster run speed on a leveling mesmer (I see it gives 12 secs)? I wasn’t thinking of boosting boon duration on this character, although if I go 20 points in Inspiration I could reduce the Focus recharge to 20 secs instead of 25.

Any other advice on how I can get around quicker? I am only level 10 right now

Pester the devs until they actually give Mesmer the quality of life improvments it needs in PvE/WvW

Until you’re ready to do it with runes, not that I know of. Try blinking (extend the range through traits), that helps a bit.

Blink and Temporal Curtain are pretty much it for a while. Signet of Inspiration will randomly pop swiftness, even out of combat, but of course never when you want it.

If it were me, I’d take out all the speed signets and speed boosts from weapons and give a flat 25% speed boost to all professions. Almost everyone uses either the signet or the weapon for the speed boost and it narrows the use of interesting utility skills and causes people to equip that one weapon just for that.

I agree with this. My mesmer is Norn, as much as it is a joy to play (favourite of mine) the running drives me nuts.

You can go for runes which extend swiftness duration, runes of air and pack, some signet’s passive effect is +10% boon duration, plus boon duration from trait line.
