My guildies and I tried to ignore this for a while but right now it’s getting out of hand. Whole squads/guilds dedicated to using this exploit make it now impossible to ignore. Just imagine 10-15 thieves in WvW coming out of stealth and spamming these consumables non stop. It’s completely broken and needs to stop. This is just like the other golem in a box exploit which was just removed.

I was in a group of about 10 people and a commander when all of a sudden 90% of us were stunned and losing health fast. There was absolutely nothing we could do. After about 3 seconds due to culling, we saw the exploiters magically phase in dumping these things on everyone and we were all dead. The few that were able to survive the initial dump were quickly killed since you can’t dodge these when thieves get to use them while invisible. I counted 8 thieves and 2 mesmers using them and they all belonged to a guild called “Spikeroot Farmers.”

Arenanet, please remove these from WvW. It’s not funny anymore.

You made the mistake of bringing a weapon to a spikeroot fight.

I’m a proponent of keeping WvW unbalanced based on gear, classes, and force population.

But THAT is just stupid and an exploit. That should be bannable.

I disagree that it should be bannable, I agree that PvE consumables should be excluded from WvW minus what can already be obtained there.

It should be bannable. If I found a way to swear at someone in wvw until they had to quit, it would be less offensive than what spikefruit abusers are doing to other players. It’s all about intent, and the abuse that intent commits.

I have a feeling that if we keep abusing these items anet is gonna take notice, since alot of people are gonna get real mad at this promping anet to do something about it.

Wouldn’t say it’s an exploit and definitely shouldn’t be bannbable. It is an unbalanced mechanic that needs to be removed from WvW as these in bag consumables do tip the scales greatly in the favor of those using it.

Yes, but that’s kind of like you banning someone for using a item wich you are selling and allowing then to use in the first place, it’s just as wrong.

Just make anet make these things unusable in WvW and those who had to relly on that stuff will now have to deal with the fact they can’t do much without it ( or sometimes they just do it for fun and get people mad like you said, still it’s hardly enough for a ban).

Want to troll ppl in the eb jp?…go get a stack of the fruits then use the fountain for stealth…then you can stalk helpless victims to your pleasure only to spike them down and laugh at their misfortune.

On a serious note…yeah disable these in wvw

I have no idea what your point is, but I can guess. Is your point that allowing people to use chat, but banning them for abusing it, is wrong?

Hummm…. this gives me an idea (or two)…… if repair costs+wp is 1s50c-3s after defeat from a Risen Monster I wonder how much ‘death by Spiky Fruit’ might cost?

Why don’t I think they should ALL be removed? Because then you won’t have gems like this:

I wouldn’t consider it an exploit, if it was then I’d probably say nourishment, skale venom are also an exploit. I don’t think they should be removed either. Just give them a 60s cooldown.

They know they are exploiting this, yes they all should be banned, it would also make players a bit more careful with consumables in future cases..

Ouch. That’s terrible.

It seems more like an exploit if you’re going to use it in a 1v1 situation like that… It’s like spam knockdown with damage. It definitely needs to be removed from WvW though since the advantage it gives is pretty high.

Ive been spammed down by uplevels a few times in wvwvw with these and gears, cant even fight back. its absurd.

Hahah – yes ban everyone who has done this, they need to pay, one deserves one’s pound of spikeroot flesh! RETRIBUTION AND VENGANCE FOR THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX (or emulating those who did).

Wouldn’t just fixing the issue suffice? – These actions are not going to have a long lasting and significant effect on the core game, economics or mechanics, once removed from certain types of PvP.

When used amusingly by a few, it will be abused by the many.

Not necessarily. As I said, ANet could restrict items which are overpowered in WvW/PvP (like those Spikefruit), while still allowing things like transformation tonics. I have an idea to get a bunch of friends together, drink down a bunch of hylek tonics, and then go kick out the quaggans from the lake. XD
