The way achievement leaderboard works now is unfair for everyone who started playing GW2 a week or more after the release as there is no way to get all the daily events for them, so they have 0 chance to be on top. Believe it or not, some people do want to be on top.

The way to fix this would be introducing a similar leaderboard and have it up as well. In that leaderboard we would have all the achievement points we have now, but without the daily and monthly achievements. That would motivate more people to go for the achievements and therefore spend more time on the game, and make the Anet happy.

Making this would be extremely easy. Just pull the data from all the achievements except the dailies/monthlies and sum up the points, that are already summed up in the categories. Then, stick all that on the leaderboard.

Easy to make, would make more players happy, why not do it?

We could also argue everyone who wasn’t playing during Halloween and Wintersday, will be forever left behind because they didn’t get to complete said achievements. And while we’re at it, let’s also remove all pvp achievements, because those also reward you with achievements points, just so that we can cater all the players that don’t pvp. In fact why don’t we just remove achievement points all-together, that way no one will feel left out because they didn’t level a certain crafting profession, play a certain race just for the story or waste money to buy every piece of cultural armor just for achievement points.

If life keeps asking you the same questions, you are not learning the lessons.

This would still be unfair. I was visiting relatives during the Holiday’s and couldn’t complete the wintersday events. Just because I didn’t play for that event shouldn’t mean I am left behind with no chance of catching up.

Also I don’t know why PvP and WvW gives achieves for the PvE leaderboard. These will need to be removed as well. Just because I don’t PvP doesn’t mean I should be left out of the PvE leaderboard.

OR just make it so you can select different achievements to see how you or your friends are doing with them compared to you. Either way idc achievements are personal not a competition play the game don’t let the game tell you how to play.

Seriously it’s a fake currency that you can’t do anything with but say “I’ve got more fake points than you HA” just play the game stop trying to kill 100 bees or farm 1000 salvages. If your achievements were worth talking about and comparing to others you wouldn’t need a point system to keep track of them the memory/story created out of the situation would of been enough.

i don’t get this caring for achievements it’s like if i gave myself points for everything i did in real life then told people i was better because i have more points.

It really sucks how I’ve completed nearly every achievement possible – I’m only missing the legendaries, WvW and PvP – yet I’ll never be able to get a rank, because I started playing 3 months later.

The Halloween, Wintersday, etc events are all achievable, you just have to wait for the next year. Those dailies are lost forever.

How about keep the current all-time board, and add a monthly leaderboard with all the same categories as well? Resets when the monthly does, top 10 get a prize at the end of month? Sound reasonable? Suggest it!
