Split PVE/WvW skills
This has been brought up several times before and the majority view has always been not to seperate WvW from PvE.
Not sure it would be easy to do either because WvW is intrinsicly linked to PvE and has nothing at all to do with SPvP.

Er, WvW is just a PVP variant, what ‘intrinsic’ link has it to ‘non-PC-contact’ PVE?
Try searching for the old threads. WvW is PvPvE and as such totally follows the PvE rules and has absolutely nothing to do with SPvP. SPvP is completely seperate of everything and was designed that way.
I’m not getting into an exhaustive discussion on something that has already been discussed to death. Try looking up the ’Why are vistas and Poi in WvW" and stuff like that.

It’s basically PVE with zergs in it, it has nothing to do with PVP.
WvW has nothing to do with sPVP I agree with that, but it doesn’t have anything to do with PVE balance wise either. Lots of professions aren’t getting much needed buffs because they are considered powerful in WvW, while they are not as useful in PVE. Prime example is the Elementalist, there are nerfs incoming to the prof, while the prof certainly needs SEVERAL buffs instead of nerfs, those nerfs are mostly about sPVP and to some extend how OP Eles are in WvW but don’t take into consideration the PVE situation and even more the viability of Elementalists in dungeons.
I don’t want WvW to use sPVP, that has been discussed to death already, what I want is for WvW balance to not affect PVE in any way or form, because profs that desperately need buffs don’t get them because of WvW. It’s as simple as that.
Wvw is pve, pve and spvp are separate and I think Anet did too good a job of seperating them. I think this is part of the reason that spvp has not taken off. I think if I could group with my friends and earn wep/armor skins throu spvp I may actualy play it for more then build testing.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
@maddoctor – What I said about intrinsicly linked is that you take all your PvE skills/traits/gear etc into WvW with you so they have everything to do with each other. As WvW was designed as basically another PvE map where you are allowed to hit each other I don’t know how difficult it would be to sever the link between the two.
As they share the same ruleset then if they nerf a class because they are OP in WvW then of course it will affect that same class in PvE because it is the same thing.
What you are asking for is to make it 3 completely different rulesets – SPvP/WvW/PvE, I’m saying I don’t think that is possible without totally rewriting either WvW or PvE.

That’s exactly what I’m asking for and the only way to save professions from WvW and “save” others from PVE. Fighting players and mobs is completely different, skills can be overpowered against mobs but weak against players and the opposite, it is impossible to have proper balance that affects both PVP and PVE.
