Two major events are coming up fast: Halloween and Wintersday. Will Lion’s Arch be ready for merrymaking?

The place is already a ghost town. Throw up some of the usual theme decorations and it will be spookier than ever for Halloween.

Come the Wintersday festival, it will be coated in snow and hidden behind colorful decorations. Then a few weeks after Wintersday, when the magical snow finally melts away, it will reveal a gleaming new fully-repaired city for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks, Tixx! Thanks ANet! Make these the most enjoyable celebrations yet!

I actually have been wondering what they are going to do for those events. Are they going to continue the living story Season 2, all the while a new Halloween chapter appears along with Wintersday? Also where are they going to take place? Will it still be in LA or another city? Considering LA’s current state I doubt they can just switch back to the old version for these events. The other question is Reaper’s Rumble coming back this Halloween?

Big surprise: The Mad King repairs the lion statue this time.

Bigger surprise: It’s fully automated with watchwork technology and proceeds on a murderous rampage.

Not a surprise: The statue workers, completely apathetic after 2 continuous years of repairing the kitten lion statue, give up and head to Queensdale to get blue blind, paralytic drunk.

Hopefully they just bring back the first Halloween, not the lacklustre one from last year…

Halloween is my favourite, Wintersday a close second. I’d like more time on Halloween, and the same as last year with Wintersday (because I’m one of those deeply annoying people who actually love the real world festive equivalents. And I mean, sickeningly so).

Please give the Mad King his due this year!

Ooh... maybe he’d like to take on Wintersday, too?

I have been thinking, for the last few days, that these 2 coming events are the reason ANet took a break on LS2 at the time they took it. They do love those two holidays, and with a broken down LA, there’s sure to be lots of work in preparation.

I’ve been wondering what they’d do for the holidays, with Lion’s Arch all smashed up. Previously, the decorations were all focused around the trade center, but even the makeshift center at Fort Mariner looks beaten to heck and back, and the city’s attractions are generally more spread out now.

On one hand, it seems efficient for them to reuse decorations and layout. On the other hand, that would require moving a lot of stuff (gata plaza, Mystic Forge) back into their old positions, which seems unlikely. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Hah! Hilarious.

I recall that the decorations are modular; the guy who designs them just plops them down wholesale wherever he wants. It’s never been an issue for them that they’ve changed the terrain between annual festivals because they reapply the decor anyway.

With the amount of rebuilding effort, LA may well have community spirit gathered to celebrate a festival to prove they’re not beaten down. But the crowds might be smaller, given game lore that 35K people died in LA out of 40K inhabitants …
