Whenever ArenaNet decides to do the new weapon update, I would really like to make a suggestion of having staff as an off hand. Sword/Staff is just a boss weapon combo. Heck, even if Elementalist never gets access to a one-handed sword, they could roll Scepter/Staff and that would be legit too.

how do you use a two-handed weapon as an off-hand one? and on elementalist, where you have to dish out 4x new attacks for every weapon?

I may understand torch, pistol (even if it’s a little out of flavour) but staff…as a one-hand weapon…

It isn’t a weird idea to have in a fantasy game, as the staff is like a walking stick that you kindof plant during combat. That is what would make it odd in GW2 combat however, as a staff in one hand would be a little clunky with the more action movement combat.

I guess dual wielding 2 hand swords would be nice. But how to balance it?
Wearing a sunrise in one hand and a twilight in another one would be amazing.

I really want to dual wield asuras with my norn

They’d have to come up with a new weapon for that: the one handed staff. Otherwise an issue would arise for any profession that can currently wield staffs.

And I don’t have a problem with new weapons being added to the game.

Staffs are a two handed weapon – a one handed staff is a sceptre. It wouldn’t make any sense to be able to simultaneously weird a sceptre and staff. However, I think dual sceptres would be pretty cool.

Maybe Staff could be used as a one handed weapon in combination with a new kind of weapon, like a little focus, a talisman or a bracelet in the other hand that charge the power of the staff main hand. But it would be a bit complicated to organized and also, would be very difficult to find the appropriate skill with dmg/type or weapon.
Also, it would be pretty cool have a long staff and a little shiny talisman on the other.
